A Belle Époque building in the shadow of Mont Blanc, La Folie Douce is a large luxury hotel with 250-plus rooms, five restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, and a spa, all redone in a sharp contemporary style that somehow doesn't clash with the original bones. The nearest ski lift is steps from the door, which in January is worth more than any amenity list. It's also far more welcoming to families than the polished aesthetic might suggest.
