    A sixteenth-century residence turned boutique hotel tucked inside the walled village of Saint Paul de Vence, halfway between Cannes and Monaco. Rooms lean small by modern standards, which is the house's way of reminding you it predates the concept of the executive suite, but printed fabrics, antique furniture, and balconies over the valley compensate generously. The restaurant's vaulted dining rooms have murals, frescoes, and a fountain. Closed November through March.
