Joy Division posters near the front desk set the tone at this boutique hotel on Allée Jean Jaurès, where the design brief was apparently 1980s Manchester rather than, say, the Toulouse opera. The brick-walled lobby reads like a recording studio, and rooms come with moody floral murals and rock-and-roll bathrooms. No restaurant, but the Wilson Bar stays open late, and the location puts the whole city within easy reach.
