A former wine tavern in Freiburg's Old Town, Löwengrube kept the timber bones of the historic building and folded clean, modern lines around them. The chef cooks contemporary with a regional lean, the kind of kitchen where Black Forest trout ends up alongside peach and cashews. Dinner runs à la carte or as a five-course menu, and the shaded terrace makes the Old Town feel like a reward rather than a backdrop.
