Marcel
French
The dining room occupies the restored Marcel Breuer building that once held the Whitney Museum, and the walnut paneling and candlelight make you feel like someone finally figured out what to do with the space. This is a French café and brasserie from the team behind La Mercerie, with omelets, steak au poivre, escargots, and madeleines warm enough to make Proust feel vindicated. Very Upper East Side, in all the ways you'd expect.
