Mishima-Tei
Sukiyaki Japanese
An old-school sukiyaki restaurant behind a tiled roof and lantern sign, where a dedicated hostess grills the beef in beef fat and sugar at your table, then finishes it in sukiyaki stock. The octagonal pots are a nod to the number eight and its association with good fortune. Novelists Kawabata and Ikenami were regulars, which means the food has been quietly making literary history for longer than most restaurants have existed.
