    A five-story Bairro Alto palace that once served as headquarters for the Port Wine Institute, now a hotel where the wine theme earns its keep, from the Douro-vineyard carpets underfoot to the cellar below. Preserved frescoes and stone archways sit alongside a courtyard vertical garden, and the rooms come with Art Deco details and proper bathrooms. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.
