Panade is a bakery out in the 15th, far enough south that making the trip counts as a personal statement for the Left-Bank-averse. The viennoiseries wander off from French tradition, including a cinnamon croissant spiced almost enough for American palates and a leftover-croissant pastry with peanuts and sweet coffee fondant that reads as an artisanal Pop-Tart. The line stays short, and one table overlooks the open kitchen.

    The dishes from the writeups

    • Cannelle donne des ailes

“The Cannelle Donne des Ailes twists not-too-sweet cinnamon croissant dough around a brown-sugar-cinnamon filling, almost spiced enough for American palates.”

      The Infatuation
    • Café clochette

“The Café Clochette upcycles leftover croissants with an almond filling, a generous smattering of toasted peanuts, and a toothachingly sweet coffee fondant for artisanal Pop-Tart vibes.”

      The Infatuation
    • Archouma

“The pâtisseries are just as creative as the viennoiseries, like the Archouma, a cream puff stuffed into an impeccably caramelized almond tart shell.”

      The Infatuation
    • Meule fruits

“And don't sleep on the bread, like the cranberry-studded Meule Fruits.”

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
