Mary-Ellen McTague, a vocal champion of the northwest, runs the kitchen at this Modern British restaurant inside the Treehouse Hotel. Repurposed wood, vintage odds and ends, and splashes of colour give it a cozy, slightly eccentric feel. The menu leans on local Lancashire produce, and the hot pot alone makes a fairly compelling case for the region. Staff are the genuinely enthusiastic kind, not the trained-smile kind.
