Simpson's in the Strand
British Cocktail Bar
Master Carvers in toques wheel silver trolleys of roast rib of Devonshire beef through one of London's grandest dining rooms, and the effect is exactly as theatrical as it sounds. This is old-school British fine dining, the kind that also finds room for railway mutton curry and spotted dick with custard. Jeremy King, the man behind The Wolseley and The Ivy, revived the place after a long closure, keeping the ceremony intact while making it feel lived-in rather than museified.
