A Kees van der Westen Slim Jim sits at the center of this six-seat counter cafe in Da'an, and everything else organizes itself around that machine. The Folks has been a one-man operation forever, roasting its own beans on-site with a lean toward Guatemalan lots. The pace is unhurried, the bar seating feels closer to a chef's counter than a coffee shop, and a takeaway cup costs a little less if you're in a hurry.
