    The rooftop bar is styled like a half-remembered '80s pool party, which tells you something about the hotel's whole personality. The Kuala Lumpur Journal is a boutique hotel in Bukit Bintang, the neighborhood where the city comes to eat, drink, and be photographed doing both. Rooms run to murals and vivid color; downstairs there's a coffee bar for breakfast. The Michelin Guide has it among its selected hotels.
