    A former bank turned massage parlor turned hospital now has ten suites with velvet curtains and soaking tubs looking down on Chinatown street life, which is one way to describe the career arc of a building. An artist and hotelier transformed the place, keeping the original concrete pillars, iron spiral staircases, and antique bank lamps, then layering in taxidermy, Persian carpets, and dusty book stacks. The lobby tea parlor draws a crowd well beyond guests.
