A former city archive and public library, the neo-Gothic bones intact since 1897, now a 34-room design hotel where lancet windows and ribbed vaults share space with Mies van der Rohe chairs and Eames pieces without anyone flinching. Each room is curated like a small exhibition, and the attached chapel moonlights as a breakfast room and photo gallery. The six-meter vaulted lobby alone makes the check-in process feel like an event.
