    A bamboo-lined path winds up to five private villas cantilevered above the Ayung River, each with views over Sayan Valley that make it hard to pack and leave. This small, locally owned boutique resort pairs clean, spare lines with hand-carved wood and Balinese artwork, landing somewhere between a design hotel and an artist's house. The restaurant is intimate, the privacy is rare, and the Michelin Guide has taken note.
