Kengo Kuma's plant-packed lobby reads like a temple that took a wrong turn into a very fashionable bar, which sets the tone for this hotel occupying the upper floors of a Toranomon skyscraper. The 200-odd rooms go serenely minimal, all white fur throws and wood slats, with walls of glass framing Tokyo Tower. There's a spa, a pool, multiple restaurants, and enough moody bars to lose an evening without noticing. It holds a spot on the World's 50 Best Hotels.
