Zum Goldenen Schäfli
German
The Zunftstube, the guild room on the upper floor, has a sloping floor that leaves you dining at a mild tilt, which adds to the sense that this old restaurant has been doing things its own way for a very long time. It's a warm, wood-panelled spot serving classic regional German-Swiss cooking, the kind of place where veal sausage with red wine onion sauce is a perfectly reasonable anchor for an evening. An old-school institution in Sankt Gallen's old town.
