The Top 100 Places to Eat Near Back 40 Roadhouse and Grill

  1. Rank 7. Handle

    New American

Tightly packed tables and a menu that shifts with the seasons set the tone at this creative American restaurant in Park City. The mood runs loud and convivial, the kind of place that works equally well for a group après-ski and a date night, which probably explains why it's almost always full. Comfort food gets a thoughtful rework here, and the chef landed a James Beard semifinalist nod. The Michelin Guide has it listed too.

  5. Rank 19. Matilda

    Wood-fired Pizza

Sourdough pies out of a wood-fired oven anchor the menu at this laid-back neighborhood pizza spot, where tall ceilings and a light wood and green palette make it feel like someone actually thought about the room. Park City locals fill it nightly, and the open kitchen is worth watching. Sticky date pudding with salted caramel closes things out on a note that has nothing to do with pizza and no one seems to mind.

  11. High West's own distillery runs this tasting-menu dinner inside a small cottage on Park Ave., where a company ambassador pairs each course with a whiskey pour and everyone eats in lockstep. You start on the patio with sips and snacks, then move inside for the full meal. The kitchen leans toward game and local fish, and the whiskey is, naturally, the whole point of being here.

  12. Rank 36. Firewood

    New American

  13. Rank 41. Pine Cone Ridge

    Contemporary New American

  14. Rank 45. 11hauz

    Traditional Caribbean

  18. Rank 49. Vessel Kitchen

    New American

  19. Half-pound sandwiches on Jewish rye, a proper Reuben, and homemade cake that sells out before dinner, this is a New York-style Jewish deli doing things the way delis used to. The family operation has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which feels about right for a counter where leaving hungry would require genuine effort. Go early if you want the cake.

  20. Gin barrels stacked floor to ceiling are the first thing you notice, which makes sense given that this tasting menu restaurant sits inside the Beehive Distillery. The chef pulls from French, Italian, and South American training to build a refined, locally sourced menu, and the results earned a Michelin star. Widely spaced tables and concrete floors keep the room grounded while the food goes somewhere else entirely.
