The Best Seafood Near Moutchou, by the Record

  1. Rank 1. Le Petit Nice

    Mediterranean Seafood

The dining room sits a few metres from the water, and that proximity is the whole premise: Gérald Passédat holds three Michelin stars and builds his fine dining menu almost entirely around what the Mediterranean gives up on any given day, over 65 species across the seasons. Sauces come from the heads and cooking juices; nothing gets wasted. The set menu devoted to his take on bouillabaisse is the move, and the sea view makes you feel like it ordered the food.

  2. Rank 2. Auffo

    Modern Seafood

Picture windows over the Mediterranean, the Château d'If floating in the distance, and a Michelin-starred kitchen buying its catch directly from local fishermen. Auffo is a seafood-forward modern restaurant perched above the Vallon des Auffes, where the chef builds vegetable and seafood dishes around sauces that do most of the talking, including a red wine bouillabaisse jus that rewrites the local brief. The room is calm, neutral, and quietly serious.

  3. Rank 5. Peron

    Mediterranean Seafood

The dining room hangs over the rocks on the Marseille corniche, with the château d'If sitting in the bay like it's waiting for someone to escape. This seafood restaurant has been around forever, and the menu leans into the Mediterranean hard, with local catches, a proper bouillabaisse, and modern preparations of grouper and monkfish. Warm weather means tables outside, which is when the whole setup makes the most sense.

  4. Rank 7. Sépia

    Modern Seafood

  5. A one-Michelin-star restaurant inside a hotel perched above the port of Carry-le-Rouet, where the terrace looks out over the Frioul archipelago and the sea basically shows up on every plate too. The chef does a tight six- or eight-course menu that leans hard into seafood and vegetables, with the kind of quiet technical confidence that comes from time at Villa Madie. The room keeps a spare, coastal feel, which is either restraint or letting the view do the decorating.

  6. Picture windows frame the marina, which is either a selling point or a reminder of how much parking cost. Es/pacìo is a seafront bistro in a deliberately low-key room, built around local seasonal produce and freshly caught wild fish, with a short list of natural wines from the surrounding region. The team came up through serious kitchens and it shows in food that leans Mediterranean without being predictable about it.
