Mount Fuji fills the balcony view at this design-forward resort hotel at the mountain's base, where the pitch is "luxury self-hospitality": you get a full kitchen, a private sauna in many suites, and the sense that no one is hovering. Bunk rooms handle families, a jacuzzi penthouse handles groups with ambitions, and dogs get their own rooftop run. The café-lounge BASE445 pulls everyone back together with local food and craft drinks when the sauna cycling winds down.
