Light wood, trailing foliage, and hand-painted ceramic tiles fill two cheerful floors on Heddon Street, where Santiago Lastra of KOL has scaled up the fonda, Mexico's neighbourhood canteen, into a full-blown Mayfair restaurant. The format is made for sharing: carnitas arrive with fresh tortillas, cocktails come in quantity, and the chef's cheesecake has become something of a signature. The room runs loud and warm, the way it's supposed to.
