A traditional wooden townhouse in old Nara that opens, unexpectedly, onto a modern atrium. This is a kaiseki-style Japanese restaurant with a Michelin star, where the chef's stated project is cooking the seasons of Nara specifically, not just the seasons in general. Local wagyu gets char-grilled, matsutake arrives in autumn, antique dishware frames each quietly composed plate. The kind of place where the room itself signals that someone has thought carefully about everything.
