A Catalan designer took a 19th-century building steps from Retiro Park and filled it with exposed brick, industrial trim, and sudden bursts of Spanish color, blue, yellow, red, as if New York and Madrid had agreed to split the decorating. This hotel holds a Michelin Key. Rooms are warm-toned with good natural light, many with balconies, and the seventh-floor terrace looks straight out at Atocha station. There's also a relaxarium, which sounds made up but isn't.
