A 16th-century aristocratic palace given the full contemporary-minimalist treatment by designer Jaime Beriestain, whose clean lines sit in deliberate tension with the frescoed ceilings above them. This is a grand hotel in every sense: marble bathrooms, some with freestanding soaking tubs, a full-service spa, and both indoor and outdoor pools. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key. Rua das Portas de Santo Antão puts you squarely in central Lisbon, which doesn't hurt.
