    Catholics once held clandestine services in this 18th-century canal-house chapel; now you sleep where the altar stood. It's a Michelin Selected boutique stay from the Private Mansions group, and "boutique" is doing heavy lifting here: you get a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a claw-foot tub, full stop. Not a hotel in any conventional sense, but the kind of place that makes a normal hotel feel like a missed opportunity.
