Candlelit tables on rich wood floors, a short menu that shifts with the seasons, and a wine list that the front-of-house half of the husband-and-wife team clearly thinks about hard. Vern's is a relaxed neighborhood restaurant with a Michelin star and a New York Times nod, which tells you everything about the gap between what it looks like and what comes out of the kitchen. Lowcountry ingredients do most of the talking; the pasta is made in house.
