The Best Hotels in Yokohama

The rooms look out over Yokohama Bay, and on a clear night you get the city lights, the bay bridge, the Ferris wheel, and the slow drift of marine traffic all at once. This harborfront luxury hotel wears its setting in the décor too, blonde wood and aquamarine tones throughout. The Hammerhead Shopping Mall runs alongside it with ramen, pizza, and more for when you don't want to venture far. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.

A boutique hotel in Yokohama's Minato Mirai district, within walking distance of the Red Brick Warehouse and Landmark Tower for when you want to feel like you've actually seen the city. Rooms are modern and tidy without trying too hard, and the in-house restaurant runs breakfast through dinner on a menu that leans international with local ingredients. A reading room suggests they know their guests occasionally put the phone down.

Sitting right on Yokohama's working port, the Hyatt Regency is a contemporary business hotel that manages not to feel like one. Rooms run modern and polished, many with harbor views, and the flagship restaurant does something quietly unusual: Japanese takes on Italian flavors, cooked through French technique. Yamashita Park is a short walk away, and the older, atmospheric quarters of the city are right outside the door.

The rooftop runs to both an indoor and an outdoor pool, plus a pair of jacuzzis, which is a reasonable reward after a day in Minato Mirai's polished corporate maze. This hotel sits in the middle of Yokohama's purpose-built modern district, all glass towers and tourist draws, and leans into it with minimalist design that stays comfortable in the rooms where minimalism can turn punishing. A clean choice for business or leisure, often both at once.

A boutique hotel in Nishi Ward that grew out of an older Yokohama property, the Knot keeps things sleek and low-key, with dusky guest rooms built around bespoke wooden furnishings designed in collaboration with the Japanese interiors firm Acme. Room sizes run a wider range than most spots in this tier, which is useful if you're not sure how long you're staying. It sits close enough to Tokyo to work as a quieter base for the whole trip.
