The best hotels in Ensenada, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide and The 50 have both weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Casa Olivea comes out on top.

Olive trees shade the gardens at this quiet boutique hotel sitting directly on Baja California's Ruta del Vino, which makes it either a convenient base or a very good excuse to stop moving. Rooms have poured concrete floors, blackout curtains, and names borrowed from plants. The stone-lined pool catches the last of the evening light beautifully, and a farm-to-table restaurant and coffee shop on site mean you'll rarely need to leave between tastings.

Eight suites tucked into the scrubby hills of Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's wine country, each one built to look like it was always there. Architect Alejandro D'Acosta used river stone, iron, and wood, with floor-to-ceiling glass pulling the landscape inside. The onsite winery, a glass cube propped on salvaged timber beams, does tastings. Small enough that you'll learn the other guests' names by day two, whether you planned to or not.
