  2. Freestanding tubs positioned beside the bed is a design choice that says something about the room's priorities, and Hotel Indigo Leeds leans into it fully. This IHG boutique on Lower Briggate runs to cream channeled headboards, walnut cabinetry, and deep teal walls, with vintage Leeds prints keeping things local. The Banksia Bar handles Mediterranean plates and cocktails downstairs. Shops, nightlife, and cultural spots are steps away, and Leeds Bradford Airport is ten miles north.

  3. A former bus and train depot converted into a boutique hotel, with wrought-iron staircases and chocolate-and-taupe carpets that lean warmer and moodier than the typical design-hotel playbook. The basement brasserie has a vaulted ceiling and a French menu. Victoria Quarter and Harvey Nichols are a short walk away, and the neighborhood fills with shoppers by day and revelers by night, so the location does a lot of work.

  4. The red brick and terracotta facade has been Grade II-listed since the railway barons threw civic soirées here, and the renovation kept the cornicing intact while adding brass bedside lighting and burgundy rugs to the 125 rooms. This is a proper full-service hotel in central Leeds, with a bar, ballroom, and nine event rooms. Yorkshire Tea in the kettle is a small but telling sign of where the independent ownership puts its attention.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
