The 69 Best Places in Miami Beach

The best places in Miami Beach, according to the experts: Forbes Travel Guide, Michelin Guide, and The 50 have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Faena Hotel Miami Beach comes out on top.

More Less

The Setai, Miami Beach and Medium Cool Cocktail Lounge hold the next two places. Miami New Times shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Michelin Guide close behind.

Departments

A department belongs to one section, so choosing one narrows the list to it.

  1. The stuffed woolly mammoth skeleton under the red tent in the lobby tells you immediately what kind of hotel this is: one where restraint was never on the mood board. Alan Faena's Miami Beach property holds a Forbes Five Star and two Michelin Keys, and earns both by committing fully to its own maximalist vision, Old Hollywood glamour reread through a fever dream. Collins Avenue regulars check in and never quite want to leave.

  2. Three pools kept at different temperatures sit between the hotel and the Atlantic, which tells you something about The Setai's approach. This Forbes Five Star resort on Collins Avenue leans into calm when everything around it leans into spectacle: soothing neutrals, a residential hush in the lobby, and suites spread across a 1930s Art Deco building and a newer tower. South Beach outside, spa retreat inside.

  6. Reclaimed wood and polished concrete set the tone at this eco-minded luxury resort on Collins Avenue, where the design borrows from surf culture and the building materials were sourced before the Instagram grid was even a concept. It occupies a full city block of beachfront with Atlantic views on one side and the Biscayne Bay skyline on the other, and carries a Michelin Key. The crowd arrives with reusable water bottles and very good luggage.

  7. A bowling alley, an ice rink, and a nightclub share a building with 294 rooms, private bungalows, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten running the kitchen. Ian Schrager's oceanfront hotel on Collins Avenue stacks mid-century bones against a very modern idea of a good time, with two pools, a spa, and a stretch of semi-private beach for when the indoor chaos gets to be a bit much. Forbes Four Star.

  8. A Morris Lapidus building at the foot of Lincoln Road, sitting right on the Atlantic, is a pretty strong opening argument for a hotel. The Ritz-Carlton South Beach is a full resort in the classic Miami Beach mold, with ocean-view rooms done in warm interiors, marble baths, and beds topped with feather mattresses. The spa anchors the property, and a VIP Club Lounge is the only one of its kind on South Beach, for guests who prefer their perks with a zip code.

  9. Ocean Drive is all neon and bass drops, which makes The Betsy's quietly art-forward lobby feel like a different city entirely. This boutique hotel holds a Michelin Key and earns it through restrained, gallery-like interiors and a pace that has no interest in competing with the clubs next door. Guests who want South Beach energy but need somewhere civilized to recover from it tend to find their way here.

  10. A rum library with over 150 bottles and a dedicated room that walks you through the sugarcane-to-bottle story before you order. This cocktail bar inside the Collins Avenue strip leans Prohibition-era in its feel, with leather couches, cozy booths, and a patio sized for golden hour. The rum flights lean into Florida producers. You don't need to arrive knowing your agricole from your molasses; the bar is built for learning on the job.

  12. The curving Morris Lapidus facade alone tells you this is the kind of hotel that wants you to notice it. A big, loud Collins Avenue resort with over 1,500 rooms, multiple pools, and a nightclub, LIV, that keeps the lobby moving well past midnight. Bachelorette sashes and convention lanyards coexist peacefully by the pool bar. The Lapis spa offers a quieter counterpoint, with extensive wet areas that feel genuinely removed from the spectacle outside.

  14. The checkered-tile courtyard pool and coral lounge chairs set the tone at this Art Deco boutique hotel on South Beach. A glossy lobby leads to an indoor tiki bar, pastel poolside cabanas, and freestanding roll-top tubs in the rooms, all restored with vintage furniture by the designer behind the Chateau Marmont renovation. The Michelin Guide has selected it among notable hotels. Coastal clubhouse is the vibe, with just enough whimsy to make the Instagram crowd feel validated.

  17. A boutique hotel just off Collins Avenue where the suites run spacious and the textures lean warm, with some terraces and a few extra living areas folded in. Continental breakfast is included, the pace inside is noticeably slower than the street outside, and the whole setup reads as a quiet base for people who want South Beach close but not constant.

  20. A revamped Art Deco skyscraper anchors this 287-room South Beach resort, sitting just north of the SoBe frenzy, which you'll either count as a drawback or the whole point. The aesthetic leans mid-century rather than the usual all-white minimalism, and the suites read more like furnished apartments with a good eye than hotel rooms. Outside, a tropical pool grove does exactly what you'd hope, and a historic bungalow was dismantled and rebuilt on-site as a candlelit garden bar.

  25. A hotel tucked inside another hotel, which sounds like a Russian nesting doll situation but works. Nobu Hotel Miami Beach occupies its own corner of the Eden Roc Resort, with 200-plus rooms designed by David Rockwell in a beach house meets Japanese aesthetic, a welcome detour from the mid-century modernism everywhere else on Collins Avenue. Three pools, a full Nobu spa, and cabanas complete the picture for guests who already know the restaurant and want the full immersion.

  26. A private members' club first, hotel second, Soho Beach House Miami sits on Collins Avenue with a pool deck full of people who seem to have nowhere else to be, which is exactly the point. The rooms exist because the members' facilities are too good to leave at the end of the day. It's a Michelin Guide Selected Hotel, and the crowd skews creative-industry in the way that makes South Beach feel almost tolerable in August.

  27. Pharrell Williams and Miami nightlife impresario David Grutman built this South Beach hotel with a rooftop swim club, DJ booth, and private cabanas, which tells you exactly what you're signing up for. Somehow the rooms manage cozy and cocoon-like rather than afterparty wreckage, and the staff skips the velvet-rope attitude entirely. A spa and gym keep mornings functional, which is more than most hotels in this zip code can promise.

  32. Reservations required, a three-night-a-week window, and a bouncer who greets you like a long-lost relative: Saxony sets the terms before you've touched a drink. This late-night cocktail bar lives beneath the Faena Hotel, down a staircase into a basement of black terrazzo, gold-leaf ceilings, and Art Deco bones, with a DJ running things until 4am. The crowd arrived on purpose and dressed accordingly.

  33. Rank 36. Matador Room

    Latin Fusion Mexican

  34. The Broken Shaker, a cocktail bar with a devoted following, started the whole thing before a hotel ever existed around it. Freehand Miami is a boutique hotel on the quiet edge of South Beach where the rooms stay affordable without making you feel like you're roughing it. The patio pulls a genuinely mixed crowd, and the vibe leans more "interesting strangers on a trip" than resort-guest small talk.

  35. A European hostel chain's first U.S. foothold landed in a restored Art Deco building on Collins Ave, which is either perfect or on the nose depending on your tolerance for irony. It runs from four-to-six-bed dorm rooms, bunk-style and open-air, to private kings. The design stays spare: numbered bunks, a mirror station, an accent pillow in the privates. Bring your own curtain expectations, or just don't have any.

  36. A 17-story resort wrapped around an Art Deco original from the late 1930s, Loews Miami Beach spreads across Collins Avenue with nearly 800 rooms, multiple restaurants, and a pool that earns its keep in a city full of them. An Exhale Spa outpost handles the recovery side. It skews family and large groups, though the sheer scale means everyone turns up eventually, which is either a feature or a warning depending on your travel style.

  37. The bayfront pool is ringed with lemon-yellow chaises where guests in bathrobes drift between a dip and the third-floor spa, moving at the precise pace of people who have nowhere to be. This Miami Beach hotel leans into the hammam, eucalyptus steam room, and garden hammocks with the conviction of a place that knows its guests are here to look serene while being seen. Pack your most performative beach read accordingly.

  38. The Elizabeth Taylor portrait in the lobby sets the tone: this is a hotel that takes its vintage glamour seriously without quite winking at you. A mid-century beachfront resort on Collins Avenue, Eden Roc draws on Morris Lapidus's sweeping architecture for rooms with oceanfront views, a sprawling spa, and poolside daybeds where frozen cocktails arrive at a civilized pace. The vibe skews polished rather than party-forward, which on South Beach counts as a genuine position.

  39. Rank 41. La Drogerie

    Cocktail Bar

  40. Rank 44. Repour Bar

    Cocktail Bar

The cocktail menu at this hotel bar is organized by room, Sitting Room, Living Room, Guest Room, and Garden, which tells you most of what you need to know about the vibe. Tucked off the Albion's soaring lobby, Repour goes deliberately the other way: low ceilings, homey furniture, the feel of someone's well-curated apartment. The bartender behind it built the interior himself with family and friends, and it shows in the best way.

  42. Sand in your mat is the only real hazard at this free outdoor yoga class, which runs every morning and evening on the beach at Third Street, 365 days a year. Volunteer teachers rotate through, so the vibe shifts session to session, and all levels show up, from first-timers to regulars who've clearly been greeting the Atlantic sunrise upside down for years. Bring a towel, and tip your teacher.

  43. Serious lap swimmers fill all eight lanes before sunrise, so the fit retirees queuing at the gate before 6 a.m. know exactly what they're doing. This public pool in Flamingo Park runs every day, holidays included, with Ocean Rescue crews doing dawn drills beside casual weekend floaters. A kiddie pool, lounge chairs, and hot showers round it out, and the surrounding park adds a track and outdoor gym for anyone who wasn't already tired.

  44. Mat-based Pilates studio where the infrared heat is cranked up and the playlist runs Bad Bunny into Adele without apology. The aesthetic lands somewhere between Tulum spa and a very tidy minimalist bedroom, all neutral tones and Bala weights arranged just so. Group classes mix Pilates and sculpt and are built to work across levels, so no one's just decorating the back row. The sustainably sourced water bottles are a nice touch, or a very on-brand one.

  45. A two-storey guitar neck and synthesizer climb structure announces this Sunset Harbour park before you even find a spot on the grass. Named for the Bee Gee who called South Florida home, it sits between a yacht marina and Purdy Avenue with west-facing views of the Venetian Islands and the Miami skyline. Grab takeout from a nearby spot, spread a blanket, and watch the light go soft over Biscayne Bay.

  46. Nine miles of paved path run the full length of Miami Beach, from Surfside down to South Pointe Park, with the Atlantic on one side and a parade of Art Deco facades on the other. Street markers are embedded in the path so you can track how far you've gone, which sounds athletic until you realize the people-watching is so good you'll stop counting. Bring sunscreen and comfortable shoes; the ocean air handles everything else.

  47. Four-dollar beers on Lincoln Road, which should be physically impossible. Zeke's is a cash-only sidewalk bar that has traded under a few names over the decades but never really changed: cheap cold beer, a bag of chips for a dollar, and a front-row seat to the full Miami Beach parade passing by. The hours shift, the tap selection is unpredictable, and none of that seems to bother anyone nursing a bottle in the sun.

  50. The bar itself is barely the size of a large closet, which only explains why everyone crowds around it anyway instead of taking one of the many outdoor seats in the palm-shaded courtyard beyond. Broken Shaker is a cocktail bar tucked inside the Indian Creek Hotel, its walls and shelves so thoroughly cluttered with objects it feels less designed than accumulated. The drinks are the point, and regulars seem to treat the tight quarters as a feature.

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
