The slogan "a friendly place for nice people" has been the house philosophy here for a long time, which either sounds like a joke or the most disarming resort pitch imaginable. This old-school Catskills property has been around forever, predating the whole Borscht Belt wave, and carries a genuinely laissez-faire looseness that most boutique hotels only pretend to. The rooms and grounds feel like a throwback, but not a dusty one.
