Mexican Fusion Basque
Tucked in the basement of another restaurant, this tasting menu spot channels a genuine speakeasy feeling before you've even ordered. The kitchen opens onto the dining room, and the chef works a fusion of Basque and Mexican cooking built around local produce. The longer tasting menu is called Amakase, a riff on omakase that folds in the Basque word for mother. The concept sounds fussy on paper but the room is warmer than that.
