The name means "to lick" in Hindi, which sets the tone pretty squarely. This is an upscale Indian restaurant on the fifth floor of the Rosewood, with a Michelin star and a kitchen devoted to taking street-snack culture somewhere the tablecloths are very nice. Regional classics get the refined-technique treatment, tandoor-roasted meats share the menu with butter-rich curries, and the bread situation warrants attention. The crowd dresses up, and nobody seems to mind.
