Stone walls and original timber beams share space with pastel murals of nature scenes in this 13-room boutique hotel on the edge of old Valletta, where the decorating instinct runs cheerfully whimsical. No two rooms are the same, though all are plush and up-to-date. A rooftop plunge pool and a spa tucked into the old cellar round things out, and the breakfast is enough that the lack of a restaurant barely registers given the neighborhood outside.
