A shimenawa, the traditional rope of twisted straw, hangs above the door as a prayer for good business, which the Michelin-starred omakase counter has apparently answered. This is classic Edomae sushi in Osaka's Sonezakishinchi, where the chef handles the nigiri and the proprietress steers you toward the right sake. Guests travel from across Japan and well beyond, and every seat fills by evening.
