The best hotels in Santa Fe, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide, the Forbes Travel Guide, and The 50 have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Rosewood Inn Of the Anasazi comes out on top.
More Less
Inn of The Five Graces and Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe hold the next two places. The Forbes Travel Guide and the Michelin Guide show up on more of this list than any other guide.

The kiva fireplace in the lobby is going year-round, and the handcrafted doors are so heavy they make every entrance feel vaguely ceremonial. This Rosewood hotel sits a block from the Santa Fe Plaza in a pueblo-style building that reads more like a serious local artifact than a luxury property, with vigas overhead, local art on the walls, and a restaurant that takes New Mexican culinary tradition at face value. It holds a Michelin Key.

A hidden inn spread across a cluster of restored adobe houses in what locals call the oldest neighborhood in the country. The owners spent a lifetime collecting, and it shows: Persian rugs, Tibetan furniture, carved Indian doors, and bathrooms tiled in onyx and lapis. Wood-burning fireplaces, quiet courtyards, and a spa rooted in Silk Road rituals round it out. A passageway off the patio leads to the Dragon Room bar, where Georgia O'Keeffe used to drink.

- #2 Inn of The Five Graces (this place) 82.8
- #3 Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe 82.5

Casitas scattered across 57 acres of high desert, each with a kiva fireplace and a private terrace, give this Four Seasons the feel of a small compound rather than a hotel. The Southwest decor is restrained enough that you won't feel like you wandered into a gift shop. A shuttle runs to Santa Fe proper, though the spa and the Sangre de Cristo views make a strong case for staying put. Forbes Four Star.

A 317-acre resort in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, about ten minutes from the Santa Fe plaza, Bishop's Lodge has been around forever, cycling from archbishop's residence to dude ranch before landing in its current life as an Auberge property. Kiva fireplaces and Native American art fill the rooms, while outside there's hiking, horseback riding, a heated pool, and a chapel repurposed for yoga, which feels very Santa Fe.
