The best barbecue in Singapore, according to the experts: World's 101 Best, The 50, and Michelin Guide have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Burnt Ends comes out on top.

More Less

Cote Korean Steakhouse and Heng Long BBQ Chicken Rice hold the next two places. Michelin Guide and The 50 show up on more of this list than any other guide.

  1. A four-tonne, dual-cavity wood-fired oven dominates the open kitchen, and the menu shifts almost daily around whatever the fire suits best. This is a counter-dining barbecue restaurant in Dempsey Hill, where Dave Pynt's open-flame technique draws a direct line from his time at Asador Etxebarri. It holds a Michelin star and a spot on the World's 50 Best list. Counter seats face the grill, keeping the heat and the theatre close.

    Indian Barbecue

The custom-built tawa, the hand-built tandoor, and an open fire give the kitchen at this modern Indian restaurant on Tras Street more heat sources than most places have cooks. The sunken open kitchen is the real draw, which is awkward for the much-celebrated silver-and-black dining room behind it. Bold seasonal cooking comes off the woodfire rig in combinations that lean confidently away from tradition. A chef's table rounds things out for those who want a front-row seat to the smoke.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
