The Best Seafood Near Pains Paris, by the Record

  1. Rank 1. Soces

    Seafood

The name is Parisian slang for friends you share a meal with, which tells you everything about the spirit of this modern brasserie in the 19th. Choice cuts and seafood arrive at the table to be divvied up, not plated with architectural ambition. The team previously cooked and poured at Clamato and the Ritz bar respectively, a combination that sounds like a joke and turns out to be a very good idea.

  2. Rank 3. Crudo

    Seafood

  3. Rank 4. Test

  4. The bright blue façade on rue de Saint-Simon is easy to spot, and inside it's a chic, unfussy brasserie where the menu tilts almost entirely toward the sea. Pierre Gagnaire holds a Michelin star here, and the kitchen applies that same restless precision to shellfish and line-caught fish rather than the grand tasting-menu format. The room draws a quietly confident crowd who know exactly where they've booked.

  5. Rank 6. Clamato

    Modern Seafood

A Clamato is a Bloody Mary with clam juice, and yes, you can order one here at this seafood wine bar, the sibling to Septime around the corner on rue de Charonne. The menu is short, the fish and vegetables arrive simply cooked on sharing plates, and the whole thing takes its cues from American East Coast oyster bars filtered through a Paris sensibility. No reservations, so the line outside is part of the deal. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  6. A seagrass named the restaurant, which tells you everything about the chef's obsession. This Michelin-starred seafood table in the quiet 16th is the project of a chef who came up through some serious Parisian kitchens and channeled it all into fish, shellfish, and the odd vegetable given equal reverence. The room is elegant without being stiff, and the cooking is precise in the way that makes precision feel effortless rather than anxious.

  7. The painted ceiling and Art Nouveau tilework make it easy to forget your menu exists, which would be a shame because Cyril Lignac's kitchen leans into fish and seafood with real conviction. This Parisian bistro in the 11th has the bones of a classic and the cooking of someone who isn't interested in coasting on them. The lobster roll and the millefeuille have both become regulars' standing orders.

  8. Rank 13. La Méditerranée

    Mediterranean Seafood

  9. Rank 14. Helen

    Seafood

  10. Oysters and whole fish have been the point here since forever, and the Rostang family has kept the white tablecloth seafood brasserie formula running without apology. Bouillabaisse, cod aioli, and shellfish towers anchor a menu that reads like a love letter to the French coast. The room on Place du Maréchal-Juin feels properly Parisian, the kind of elegant but unstuffy that takes years to calibrate. Finish with the chocolate soufflé.

  11. Rank 18. Le Duc

    Seafood

  12. A seafood restaurant with its own fish-maturing cellar and a bar big enough to make a statement, VIVE has been a Paris institution since forever. David and Stéphanie Le Quellec now run the kitchen, bringing a very Breton sensibility to dishes built for sharing: fish and shellfish sourced from Atlantic and Mediterranean markets, served in a room of long banquettes and genuine old-school grandeur. Dress accordingly.

  13. Rank 20. Marius
