The Best Places in South Las Vegas & around

  1. Rank 1. Casa Playa

    Coastal Mexican

The whole snapper arrives in tempura, trailing mole amarillo, and the room is already glam enough that this feels appropriate. Casa Playa is a coastal Mexican restaurant on the Strip where the menu works for sharing or not, which is a rarer courtesy than it sounds. The chef holds a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest. Order charred octopus, warm housemade tortillas, and whatever the table can agree on, then quietly order more.

  2. Rank 1. Wing Lei

    Cantonese

The gilded dining room inside the Wynn was designed to stop conversation mid-sentence, and the food takes the same approach. Wing Lei is a fine dining room built around Cantonese, Sichuan, and Shanghainese cooking, and it holds a Forbes Five Star, a distinction no other Chinese restaurant in North America can claim. The Peking duck arrives on a custom cart and gets carved tableside, which is exactly as theatrical as it sounds.

  3. Rank 3. CUT by Wolfgang Puck

    Modern Steakhouse

This is a Wolfgang Puck steakhouse inside the Shoppes at Palazzo, the sort of place where the wagyu comes from Hokkaido and Australia and the check comes from a much higher power. Expect jackets, expense accounts, and a dining room built for closing deals or pretending to. The Japanese beef burger gets you the same pedigree without the second mortgage, and the man himself occasionally works the room.

  4. Rank 3. Mizumi

    Japanese

The floating pagoda table on a koi pond is exactly as over-the-top as it sounds, which is probably why it's the hardest reservation in the building. Mizumi is a fine-dining Japanese restaurant inside Wynn, recently stripped of its red lacquer drama in favor of teak beams, indigo, and lantern light. The kitchen leans innovative, with sushi and sashimi that feel almost too precise to eat.

  5. Rank 3. Mott 32

    Cantonese

The abacus-inspired light fixtures alone could convince you this is a design hotel lobby, but Mott 32 is a fine dining room doing serious contemporary Chinese food inside The Palazzo. The menu pulls from Cantonese and Sichuanese traditions, and the applewood-roasted Peking duck has a following of its own. The dim sum spreads run all-you-can-eat without feeling like a cafeteria, which is a harder trick than it sounds.

  6. A Strip diner that has been waving off the casino buffets for decades, with fake trees, flamingo lamps, and enough neon to make the omelets feel like a decision. Out back, the lounge has sunken booths, water features, and scorpion bowls, a James Beard America's Classics winner that somehow still runs all night. Hungover tourists and bikers split plates of marinara-soaked eggs, and no one finds this strange.

  7. Rank 6. Sinatra

    Italian

This is the Italian dining room inside Wynn, built around Frank Sinatra, with portraits on the walls and a few of his old microphones standing by in case anyone feels like a song. It's a white-tablecloth, Four Diamond, Forbes Four Star kind of evening, so dress like you've got somewhere to be afterward. The dessert is a chocolate mousse shaped like his fedora, which is a very Vegas way to eat your hat.

  8. Rank 6. SW Steakhouse

    Steakhouse

Lakeside tables at this swanky steakhouse inside Wynn look out over a waterfall and light show, which gives the white-tablecloth setting a slightly surreal edge. The menu hits every chophouse note, but the draw is the beef program: true Japanese Kobe from Hyogo alongside American wagyu, both with the kind of marbling that makes a menu feel like a financial decision. Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamonds.

  9. This is a José Andrés steakhouse inside The Venetian, and the open kitchen is basically a stage for a very large fire. Bone-in wagyu ribeyes get charred there, while the menu also stocks Ibérico ham and an aged-cow beef most steakhouses skip. Caviar comes in single-bite cones, which tells you about the tax bracket. Dress like you're celebrating something, since most tables are.

  10. Rank 9. Delilah

    American

You descend a staircase into a room held up by 40-foot cast brass palms and malachite-inlaid tables, which sets the tone pretty efficiently. Delilah is a supper club inside the Wynn that leans hard into old Vegas glamour, the kind of room that makes you feel underdressed even when you're not. The beverage program earned a James Beard nomination. Dress up; this is not a jeans situation.

  11. Jeremy Ford runs this modern tasting menu restaurant inside the Venetian, and the kitchen leans hard into vegetables without pretending it isn't also very interested in wagyu and foie gras. Two tasting menu lengths give you a choice of how long to commit, but the bar menu with its cacio e pepe puffs and charred jerk carrots is a genuinely good argument for just pulling up a stool instead.

  12. Rank 12. Bouchon

    Classic French

Blue velvet banquettes, wood-paneled columns, and vintage frescoes sit just off a casino floor that couldn't be further from Paris, which is exactly the joke Thomas Keller seems happy to lean into. Bouchon is a classic French brasserie where the staff wear bow ties and the cooking runs to escargots and crème brûlée done with care. The room transports; the slot machines do not.

  13. Rank 12. Cote

    Steakhouse Korean

The dry-aged beef is displayed behind glass like jewelry, which tells you exactly where you are: a Korean steakhouse inside the Venetian that takes itself seriously without apologizing for it. The Butcher's Feast is the move, a family-style spread of kimchi stew and egg soufflé before the real business, premium wagyu and prime cuts cooked tableside by a service team that clearly rehearsed.

  14. The fish at this Greek fine dining room on the Strip is displayed on ice for you to choose before it's grilled, which is either refreshing transparency or mild pressure depending on your temperament. Servers know their regions and textures cold, so let them steer you. The lunch prix-fixe draws local regulars who know a quiet deal when they see one. Evenings bring a dressed-up crowd there for the seafood and the room.

  15. Genting Palace is a white-tablecloth Chinese dining room inside Resorts World, with high ceilings, floral wallpaper, and tables spaced far enough apart that nobody hears your negotiations over the duck. Dinner is Cantonese fine dining, and the Sunday seafood buffet sets up in the same formal room, complete with a carving station. It holds a Forbes Four Star, so wear something with a collar.

  16. The Jacuzzi room here is styled like a mermaid's fever dream, with lily-pad walls, waterfall showers, and a central soaking bath that makes you forget Las Vegas exists outside. This Forbes Five Star spa at Wynn leans into Asian- and Middle Eastern-inspired treatments alongside a feng shui-based ritual that works through foot, massage, and scalp in one long, thorough session. Plush waiting rooms with fireplaces set the tone before a single robe goes on.

  17. This is a casual Italian spot inside the Grand Canal Shoppes, where windows face the Strip and the cooking leans more Hoboken than Bologna, courtesy of the Cake Boss. Portions are built for sharing, with a meatball roughly the size of a toddler's head and a lasagna that keeps its promises. Sunday turns it into an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet, and the chicken parm is the thing to defend at the carving station.

  18. Rank 17. Chyna Club

    Modernist Chinese

Tucked into a corner of the Fontainebleau that most guests walk right past, Chyna Club is a fine dining room serving modernist Cantonese and regional Chinese, helmed by the chef who once earned the only Michelin star for a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas. The tableside Beijing duck, all paper-thin wrappers and julienned scallions, sets the tone: this is banquet-grade precision in a room that doesn't announce itself.

  19. Rank 17. PISCES Bar & Seafare

    Refined Mediterranean

This is Wynn's lakeside seafood restaurant, a split-level room where the chairs are upholstered in fish skin and the margaritas arrive in blowfish-shaped glasses. It's refined Mediterranean at fine-dining prices, so dress like someone with a reservation and a reason. The $1,000 seafood platter feeds eight and comes with enough caviar to make a toast feel necessary. Good for anniversaries, or celebrating a friend's profitable divorce.

  20. Rank 17. WAKUDA

    Japanese

Tetsuya Wakuda made Las Vegas his US debut, reportedly because the Strip's energy reminded him of Shinjuku, which is either a compliment or a warning depending on your tolerance for spectacle. This fine dining room inside The Venetian pulls Japanese seafood, Canadian lobster, and Tasmanian oysters into a menu that moves between traditional and contemporary Japanese cooking. A hidden omakase room exists for those who know to ask, with rare whisky alongside the meal.

  21. This is a Strip steakhouse run by the Food Network's "bam" guy, and the wine list tops 2,700 bottles, which is a lot of reading before a baked potato. The Caesar is tossed tableside, as the form requires, and the lobster bisque comes loaded with actual chunks of lobster. The banana cream pie is a wall, and a glazed pork chop makes a case against the beef. Expect expense accounts and a jacket or two.

  22. Rank 21. Piero's

    Old-School Italian

Piero's is an old-school Italian dining room just off the Strip, with oversized leather booths, candlelight, and the lingering suggestion that someone at the next table is discussing something other than linguine. The bar is moody enough that the FBI reportedly once staked it out, which tells you how long the martinis have been this good. Expect a jacket-and-dinner-plans crowd, and a Garbage Caesar that sounds like an insult and isn't.

  23. Rank 23. Carversteak

    American Steakhouse

Carversteak is a Strip steakhouse where a martini cart makes laps during dinner service, which tells you how seriously the room takes the word "steakhouse." Expect a dressy, expense-account sort of evening, with investment bankers at the next table who may adopt you for drinks. The chilled seafood platters, stacked with shrimp, lobster tails, and oysters, are as much the draw as the beef.

  24. La Fontaine is a lavish French restaurant that treats brunch as something other than an excuse for bottomless mimosas. The pain perdu comes with salted butter and warm caramel, the souffle pancakes get thyme whipped cream instead of syrup, and the dining room glows in soft whites and tans like a very expensive beach house. It's open Thursday through Monday, so plan around that, and wear something nicer than gym shorts.

  25. The handkerchief pasta, mandilli di seta, arrives dressed in Ligurian almond basil pesto and tends to settle the question of what to order. This modern Italian restaurant inside the Venetian seats over 150 across a room of forest green, reclaimed wood, and Art Deco light fixtures, which sounds like a lot but reads warmer than it has any right to. The menu runs from focaccina to porchetta, with fresh pasta doing most of the heavy lifting.

  26. Handmade pasta rooted in Roman and Lazio tradition is the point here, and Evan Funke's Italian restaurant inside the Fontainebleau takes that seriously enough to make everything else on the Strip feel like a reheated punchline. The room is modern rustic, open enough to clock the occasional famous face drifting through, with quieter tables along the edges for anyone who'd rather not. Seasonal antipasti, handmade pasta, the full Roman heritage treatment.

  27. This is the Strip outpost of a Mexico City seafood institution, a sit-down dinner place where the pescado a la talla arrives butterflied and painted half green, half red, which tends to start a debate at the table. Since this is Vegas, the menu adds red meat, so wagyu tenderloin tacos and a beef aguachile share space with the tuna tostadas. Dress like you're impressing someone, because the whole fish encourages it.

  28. Don's Prime is a white-marble, gold-trimmed steakhouse inside Fontainebleau, where the staff in velvet tuxedos treat service like a stage production. Raw steaks are presented on a board for your approval, Old Fashioneds get mixed on a rolling cart, and dessert arrives with its own trolley. Dress like someone who expects to be looked at, since the circular bar is that kind of seat. Eater named it the best new steakhouse.

  31. This is a casino-resort buffet dressed for a wedding, with tiered cakes, whole wheels of cheese, and caviar on blinis next to the miniature pancakes. Sixteen cooking stations mean the crepes and eggs Benedict arrive made to order, and reserving the late-morning slot lets brunch slide into the crab-leg dinner shift. Expect a line, a three-figure bill with the extras, and a plate strategy.

  32. Rank 33. Brezza

    Tuscan

Brezza is a Tuscan Italian restaurant at Resorts World where the steaks hang around in dry-aging for at least 100 days, long enough to pick up a funk that tastes a little like gorgonzola. The 16-ounce strip is the move, and the pappardelle with lamb ragu is easy to split. The dining room handles a business lunch fine, and the patio looks out at the Strip, which is a lot of neon to see over a plate of pasta.

  33. Rank 33. Chica

    Latin American

Chica is a Latin American restaurant inside the Venetian, and its weekend brunch plays out in a dim, purple-lit room with a DJ, which makes the eggs benedict feel slightly illicit. It's a sit-down meal at resort prices, with arepas arriving by the basket and a chocolate skull that gets set on fire at the table. Eater and The Infatuation both put it on their Las Vegas brunch lists, which seems fair given the pyrotechnics.

  34. Lavo is an Italian restaurant that treats brunch as a two-act play. Sunday is the calm one, an all-you-can-eat spread with a towering bread display at the door and shoestring fries you'll keep reaching for. Saturday trades the tablecloth for fog machines, DJs, and bottle service delivered by someone dressed as a banana. Wear whichever outfit matches your appetite for chaos, and bring a budget for either.

  35. Rank 33. Turkey and The Wolf

    Sandwich Shop

Turkey and the Wolf is a sandwich counter at the front of the Venetian's Via Via Food Hall, which means you eat at shared tables with Scarr's Pizza and Ivan Ramen as neighbors. The fried bologna sandwich comes on butter-griddled bread with potato chips tucked inside, and it's large even by Vegas standards. The collard green melt on rye is the one to split with whoever you brought. Counter-service prices, napkins required.

  39. Rank 40. Howlin’ Ray’s

    Nashville-style Southern

Nashville-style hot chicken counter inside the Venetian's Via Via food hall, where the queue alone tells you something is happening. The LA original has a cult following, and the Vegas outpost brings the same obsessive consistency: fiery chicken sandwiches dressed with coleslaw, comeback sauce, and pickles, with heat levels running from no-heat "country" to "Howlin'," which the menu might as well label "your problem now." Grab the banana pudding as a chaser.

  40. This is a two-story steakhouse tucked inside a shopping mall, which sounds like a dare until you see the carts of cloche-covered cuts rolling past a glass-walled butcher room. The mall's painted sky keeps it permanently dusk, so nobody checks the time. Expect shellfish towers, a flaming baked Alaska, and the kind of dinner where the bill arrives in a leather folder and nobody flinches.

  41. Rank 40. Tacos El Gordo

    Baja Taqueria

Handmade tortillas folded around adobada, lengua, buche, or suadero, with no basic chicken option because the menu has standards. This cafeteria-style Tijuana taco counter across from Resorts World runs until 4 a.m. on weekends, which explains the line at 2 a.m. full of people who've just remembered they're hungry. The tacos are petite, so order accordingly. Eater named it among the Strip's 38 essential restaurants.

  45. Rank 47. Dolce Notte

    Italian Speakeasy

A movable wall conceals this cocktail bar and small-plates spot behind a family portrait inside Buddy Valastro's Italian restaurant at the Venetian. Green banquettes, cafe tables, and walls thick with photographs give it the feel of a room that's been there forever, even if the secret door suggests otherwise. The menu runs to charcuterie, little panini, and lobster fritto misto, with desserts closing things out on a sweet, unhurried note.

  46. Rank 48. Miznon

    Mediterranean Pizzeria

Eyal Shani's quick-service pita shop inside the Venetian prints its menu entirely in Comic Sans, which tells you most of what you need to know about the mood. Stuffed pitas run from wild mushroom to rib-eye minute steak, and the vegetables get treated with a near-religious seriousness that makes a cold bag of green beans feel like an event. High-top seating, fast counter service, and prices that won't require a second mortgage on the Strip.

  48. Rank 49. HaSalon

    Israeli

The menu at this Israeli fine dining room lists a dish as "Horrible Hammer smashing herbs and flowers on meat," which tells you everything you need to know about the energy here. Chef Eyal Shani's Las Vegas outpost pulls from Tel Aviv by way of Japanese and French technique, but the real point is that dinner turns into a dance party, and the tile-and-warm-wood room is built to look lived in just enough to make table-dancing feel earned.

  50. The unmarked door is the whole point. Tucked behind the sushi counter at the Venetian, this speakeasy bar keeps a low profile by design, with a full bar, ube espresso martinis, and snacks that skew sharper than the hand rolls out front. Convention-goers grabbing a boxed set to-go have no idea it's back there, which is more or less how the regulars prefer it.

  51. Sartiano's is a high-end Italian steakhouse on the Strip, with a patio that looks out over Wynn's private fairways and the Sphere glowing behind them. It sits next door to the celebrity-heavy members' club Zero Bond, and the room carries some of that hush. Expect an expense-account crowd, caviar cannoli to start, and meatballs that quietly steal the show from the steaks. It's polished without being stiff.

  52. Tableau is the Wynn's daytime restaurant, a sunlit atrium with a patio of oddly sculpted hedges, so breakfast comes with a garden party you didn't RSVP to. Expect resort prices and brunch groups dressed for photos, some of whom were clearly up all night at the club. The pancakes are lemon ricotta, and the coffee list goes well past black into mushroom territory.

  53. Rank 59. El Bagel

    Jewish Bagel Shop

El Bagel is a Miami bagel shop that opened a counter in the Fontainebleau food hall, which means your bacon, egg, and cheese now has a casino view. The line forms early with people who have clearly met the night before, and the pastrami gets smoked for 18 hours, a commitment most of us can't make to anything. It's a quick, casual stop, and a beautiful mess to eat. Eater has named it for both bagels and sandwiches.

  54. Rank 60. Virgil's Real BBQ

    Memphis-style Barbecue

  55. Rank 62. All’Antico Vinaio

    Florentine Deli

  56. Rank 62. Capon’s Burgers

    Old-school American Burger Joint

  57. Rank 62. Ito

    Sushi

Ito is a twelve-seat omakase counter on the 67th floor of the Fontainebleau, tucked inside a private members club, which is about as far from a strip mall sushi bar as geography allows. The eighteen courses run $400 a head, and the chefs play classic hip-hop while they torch and tweezer things into place. Expect a room of people dressed for a night out and quietly guarding their uni bowl.

  58. Scarr's is a New York slice shop that somehow got airlifted onto the Strip, wood paneling and marquee menu board intact. The owner reportedly spent weeks reworking his dough to account for Vegas tap water, which is a level of devotion usually reserved for sourdough starters and ex-girlfriends. Order at the counter, grab a hot honey pepperoni slice, and eat standing up like the pizza gods intended. Eater has named it the best pizza in Las Vegas.

  60. Wally's is the Los Angeles wine-shop-turned-restaurant that crossed the desert and blended right in, which says something about both places. Brunch is a sit-down affair with avocado toast, candied bacon on brioche, and steak and eggs, plus a Reuben and thin oblong pizzas for the lunch-minded. Eater put it on its Las Vegas brunch list, and the cellar is deep enough that your server will simply pick the bottle for you.

  61. Washing Potato is a dim sum restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip, from the person behind Hakkasan and Wagamama. The dining room sits on a raised platform with a view into two open kitchens, where cooks steam and roll dumplings by the hundreds. Black walls double as screens for swirling light shows, so even the white furniture gets a little theatrical. Expect traditional dim sum under all the lasers, plus Eater's list of top Chinese restaurants in town.

  62. Rank 74. Liam's Den & Bubble Bar

    Champagne Cocktail Bar

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
