The Best Pizza in Brooklyn, by the Record

The best pizza in Brooklyn, by the professional record: 50 Top Pizza, The Infatuation, and Michelin Guide have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. L'industrie Pizzeria comes out on top.

Roberta's and L&B Spumoni Gardens hold the next two places. The New York Times shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with 50 Top Pizza next.

  1. Rank 1. L'industrie Pizzeria

    New York-style Pizza

The line out the door on South 2nd is the most honest review you'll find. This Williamsburg slice shop has a counter, a few standing ledges, and pizza makers working in plain sight from dough to oven. The crust is thin, crisp, and taken seriously. 50 Top Pizza ranked it the top slice shop in the country, and the New York Times put it on their short list too. Order, pay, wait for your name, eat standing up. That's the whole deal.

  2. The red door on Moore Street opens into a loud, wood-fired pizza shop that somehow became the definitive argument for Bushwick's whole self-image. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the pies earn the pilgrimage: thin, blistered, unapologetically themselves. The room is industrial and a little ramshackle, the staff looks like they're in three different bands, and the wait can be long enough to reconsider your life choices. Order ahead and take a box home.

  3. Rank 3. L&B Spumoni Gardens

    Old-School Pizza

  4. Rank 4. Speedy Romeo

    Wood-Fired Pizza

A wood-fired pizza shop in a converted auto garage in Clinton Hill, with kitschy décor that somehow pulls it off. The team spent years in the Jean-Georges universe, and that background shows up in combinations you wouldn't expect a pizza joint to attempt, like the St. Louis, which lays Midwestern Provel cheese over pickled peppers and meat on a proper crust. The Michelin Guide gives it a Bib Gourmand, and the room fills up fast on weeknights.

  5. Rank 4. Wheated

    New Haven-Style Pizza

  6. Rank 7. Brooklyn DOP Pizza

    NY-Style Pizza

A backyard in Park Slope and a margherita built on proper ingredients make Brooklyn DOP an easy neighborhood slice shop to fall into. The dough is treated with care, the format stays classic New York, and the beverage list is calibrated accordingly. The orange olive oil cake quietly outperforms every other decision you'll make that afternoon. It landed at number six on the 50 Top Pizza Slice USA list, which checks out.

  7. Rank 7. Pizza Secret

    Neapolitan Pizza

A Neapolitan pizzeria a short walk from Barclays Center, Pizza Secret lands at number 15 on 50 Top Pizza USA, which is not the kind of thing a slice shop does quietly. The dough is well-leavened and light, the kind that doesn't sit heavy, and the fried appetizers are worth ordering before the pie arrives. The room is renovated and family-friendly without feeling like a chain, and the service knows when to disappear.

  8. Rank 9. Chrissy's Pizza

    NY-Style Pizza

  9. Rank 9. Ops

    Neapolitan Pizza

Sourdough Neapolitan pizza in a cozy Bushwick spot where the lighting is dim enough to feel intentional and the wine list is longer than the beer list, which tells you something about the room. The crust is light and genuinely digestible, as opposed to the kind that sits with you on the subway home. Ranked in the 50 Top Pizza USA, if that's the sort thing you track. The veranda is lovely until it isn't.

  10. You order at the door, grab a table, and the pizza shows up without ceremony, which is exactly the point at this Greenpoint slice shop. The dough is soft and light in the way Neapolitan purists get worked up about, and the toppings stay out of each other's way. The bruschetta with honey and ricotta is a small, sweet detour worth taking. Ranked 32nd on 50 Top Pizza USA, Salsa keeps things casual enough that nobody feels underdressed.

  11. Rank 12. Lucali

    NY-Style Pizza

Cash only, no reservations, and a line down Henry Street most nights: Lucali has been a Carroll Gardens institution long enough that the wait has become part of the lore. It's a small, candle-lit pizza shop serving large pies and calzones, nothing more. The dough is soft and thin in the New York tradition, and the room is the kind of quietly charming that makes two hours feel reasonable.

  12. Rank 14. Joe's Pizza

    NY-Style Pizza

  13. Rank 19. Paulie Gee's

    Neapolitan Pizza
