Dark wood, bare concrete, and blinds angled just enough to keep the early evening gloom intact: The Corner is a cocktail bar that dresses like it has nothing to prove. The beer list is deep, the liquor selection is serious, and the cocktails hold their own without any fuss. A few tables spill onto the sidewalk for watching a street that, frankly, isn't doing much. That turns out to be exactly the point.

You get into this cocktail bar through a fridge door, which tells you roughly everything you need to know about the vibe before you've ordered a drink. Once inside, the mood pivots hard from novelty to velvet-draped, warmly lit Old World opulence. The Underground is a Prohibition-themed speakeasy tucked beneath the Mob Museum, and yes, there's a daily password, which the museum's website will hand over to anyone who asks nicely. The brick walls double as a 1920s exhibit hall, with flapper outfits and a cocktail kit hidden in a briefcase. It also runs its own working moonshine distillery, so the bootlegging is technically legal, which is the one disappointing part.

Casey Moore's is a seafood and oyster bar that's been around forever, and it draws the full cross-section of college town life, from freshmen to people who were freshmen here decades ago.
