The Four Seasons brand started in Toronto, so the Yorkville flagship carries a certain pressure to get things right. This glass tower hotel earns its Forbes Five Star with quietly luxurious rooms recently renovated to nod at the Canadian landscape, a Daniel Boulud restaurant on site, and service that reportedly sets the standard for every other property in the chain, which is either reassuring or a lot to live up to, depending on your mood.

Yabu Pushelberg designed the interiors, and the suites average six hundred square feet, which tells you where this boutique hotel sits on the spectrum. The Hazelton is Yorkville's idea of a grand hotel, all heated bathroom floors, a private screening room that fills up during film festival season, and a lobby that skews Gatsby without apologizing for it. Forbes Five Star and two Michelin Keys. Celebrities apparently appreciate the discretion, though the bar patio is very much the opposite.

Rank 3. Osteria Giulia
Italian
Candlelight bouncing off cream walls and blond-oak tables sets the tone at Rob Rossi's luxe Italian restaurant, which holds a Michelin star and zeroes in on the seafood-forward cooking of Liguria rather than the usual Italian greatest-hits tour. The staff runs things with a quiet confidence that's either very reassuring or slightly unnerving, depending on your mood. A deep Italian wine list and a serious cocktail program mean there's no weak link in the evening.

Eight courses from an open kitchen in a room that manages to feel welcoming rather than ceremonial. This is a contemporary tasting-menu restaurant in Yorkville, where the chef, an Alo alumnus, keeps plates to three or four ingredients and lets them do the talking. The wine list is small and well-chosen. A Michelin star. Bar seats offer à la carte for anyone who finds the full commitment a bit much on a Tuesday.

A 200-year-old hinoki counter anchors this intimate omakase room on Avenue Road, where Chef Masaki Saito flies his fish exclusively from Japan and keeps the atmosphere warm enough that laughter genuinely competes with reverence. The room itself is a statement, all traditional woodwork and quiet ceremony, and the price is serious. It holds a Michelin star. Come prepared to surrender the evening and let the chef decide everything.

Rooms at the Park Hyatt run from large to genuinely enormous, with skyline views that remind you exactly where you are in the city. This is a full-service luxury hotel at Bloor and Avenue Road, steps from the ROM and the theater district, and it plays its role without apology: feather beds, a proper spa, a rooftop bar, and a restaurant doing upscale Canadian cuisine. It holds a Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star.

Rank 8. Scaramouche
French
The city skyline arrives like a third course at this long-running fine dining room tucked into the South Hill neighbourhood. Chef Keith Froggett has kept the kitchen classically French for decades, which means foie gras terrine and rabbit loin without apology or quotation marks. The coconut cream pie has its own fan club among regulars who have been making the reservation since before you were born.

French
The front door is frosted top to bottom, the curtains are drawn, and there's no signage to speak of, which is a choice for a French bistro on Harbord. Inside, the narrow townhouse room runs on dim lighting and Italo-disco, and the cooking is smart, seasonal, and indulgent in the way that only a chef with Joe Beef on his résumé can pull off. Pommes dauphines are a fixture; everything else shifts with the microseason. Listed in Canada's 100 Best and the Michelin Guide.

Rank 11. Aburi Hana
Kyō-Kaiseki Japanese
Handmade Arita pottery lands on the table before the food does, and that sets the tone for this Michelin-starred Kyō-kaiseki room tucked below Yorkville. The chef's multi-course menu is intricate and personal, each dish built from layered techniques rather than straightforward ingredients. The minimalist room keeps things quiet so the plates can do the talking, which, given the cooking, turns out to be a reasonable arrangement.

Rank 11. MIMI Chinese
Regional Chinese
Lipstick-red banquettes and white tablecloths in Yorkville signal a Chinese restaurant with more polish than your usual regional spot. MIMI is the fancier sibling in its family of restaurants, leaning into refined technique and good ingredients rather than homestyle comfort. The menu moves across regional Chinese classics, and the four-foot belt noodles have a way of commanding the table. Groups do well here; portions are built for sharing.

Rank 16. Amal
Lebanese
Perched above Bloor Street's shopping strip, Amal is a Lebanese restaurant where the room leans sleek and the mood tips toward a night out even at lunch. The halal menu runs through mezze, skewers, and grilled mains in a modern register, and weekends bring belly dancers or a DJ to remind you this isn't a quiet neighbourhood spot. The kanafeh makes a strong case for dessert.

Sticky rice is the organizing principle here, turning up beside papaya salad, tapioca dumplings, and Lao barbecue chicken across a menu rooted in Laotian cooking rather than the Thai-leaning stuff the team used to run across town. Lao Lao is a cocktail bar with a kitchen that takes the food seriously, tucked onto St Joseph in a way that rewards people who actually read menus before they go out.

Rank 16. Maven
Polish Jewish
Rose's knick-knacks line the shelves, and her coleslaw recipe comes printed on a card clipped to the bill. Maven is a warm, sunlit Polish-Jewish restaurant on Harbord where chef Shauna Godfrey, a Momofuku Kōjin alum, cooks from her grandmother's legacy and her own technique in equal measure. The Pickletini arrives briny and composed, and the chicken schnitzel is brined, fried, and completely serious about itself.

A former Holiday Inn turned Kimpton property, the Saint George sits on Bloor Street just west of Yorkville, which means it's upscale without being precious about it. Nearly 200 rooms across 14 floors manage to feel boutique-scaled, with Frette linens and genuinely attentive service doing most of the convincing. The Fortunate Fox gastropub downstairs handles fish and chips and craft cocktails with equal enthusiasm. The Michelin Guide lists it among its selected hotels.

The neo-Gothic facade on a quiet Yorkville side street gives nothing away about what's inside: 28 suites done in warm cream minimalism, Frette sheets, limestone bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, and 24-hour butler service. A Bentley ferries guests around, which may explain why this boutique hotel has become the de facto base for Toronto International Film Festival talent. The Tea Room runs afternoon service by day and a champagne and caviar bar by night.

Rank 25. Alobar Yorkville
French Cocktail Bar
The curved banquettes, low ceiling, and candlelight will convince you it's a cocktail bar, and the drinks are sharp enough to let you believe that as long as you like. The Alo Food Group's French-leaning restaurant in Yorkville leans hard on a charcoal grill and whatever came off a boat, with a wedge salad and banana cream pie showing up like old friends. The room hums with the particular contentment of people who've already ordered a second round.

The burger patty is ground beef cheek, grilled and stacked on house-made brioche with gochujang mayo, which tells you most of what you need to know about this gastropub. The menu roams freely, chickpea fritters alongside lamb vindaloo dumplings alongside truffle gnudi, and no single cuisine gets to claim it. Portions run generous, flavors run bold, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand suggests the tab stays reasonable while all of that is happening.

A broadcast-ready recording studio in the lobby bar is either bold or completely on-brand for the W, and here it reads as both. This hotel lands in Yorkville with the chain's signature riot of color and sculptural architecture, a rooftop restaurant and bar from Akira Back, serious fitness and wellness facilities, and public spaces that pull in the neighborhood as much as the guests. Selected by the Michelin Guide.

Rank 32. Adrak Yorkville
Indian
Hand-carved furniture, turmeric-colored booths, and archways that glow like something out of a Mughal painting make this Indian dining room in Yorkville feel pleasantly over-the-top in the best way. The kitchen matches the ambition, moving through dishes from across India with real precision, from clay-oven kebabs to a chicken biryani baked under puff pastry that has no interest in playing it safe. Dress accordingly; the room expects a little effort.

Rank 32. Parquet
French
The patterned floors alone could justify the visit, but Parquet is a French bistro with a full case to make: marble bar, forest-green ceiling, wood-paneled walls, and a patio that turns Harbord Village into a small corner of Paris come summer. The cooking runs classically rich, cassoulet and steak frites with béarnaise sitting comfortably beside lighter surprises. The kind of room that fills early and empties late.

Drums play overhead while chefs break down whole fish at the counter, so the omakase here functions more like dinner theater than a quiet procession of nigiri. This is a high-energy sushi counter with outposts in Vancouver and Montreal, and the room is in constant motion, everyone grilling, slicing, or frying something at once. The price tag matches the spectacle, so come ready for that conversation.

Italian Bakery
The croissants here leave evidence, buttery and flaky enough that you'll be picking debris off your shirt for the rest of the morning. This Harbord Street bakery has built a following around laminated pastry and long-fermented sourdough, with savory Saturday specials that rotate weekly and draw a line of regulars who planned their whole day around it.

Rank 36. Planta
Vegetarian Pizzeria
The highest praise a plant-based restaurant can get is when carnivores leave quietly impressed, and Planta in Yorkville has built a reputation around exactly that. The chef behind it trained in Michelin-starred kitchens and applies that technique to a globe-spanning menu where cashew mozzarella goes on vodka pizza and mushroom "bacon" turns up in the carbonara. Hedonistic is the right word, not virtuous.
