  1. Rank 246. Tep Bar

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar in Pom Prap where the drinks lean on Thai herbal spirits and regional liqueurs you won't find on a standard back bar, and a live piphat ensemble or molam band fills the room on a given night. Those bands normally play theaters, so catching one here feels like an accidental stumble into something. Skewers come off a charcoal stove, rice arrives in bamboo. The whole thing is aggressively, cheerfully Thai, and the room knows it.

  2. Rank 246. The Bamboo Bar

    Cocktail Bar

Tiger-skin prints and bamboo furniture set the tone at this hotel bar inside Bangkok's Mandarin Oriental, where the house cocktail menu draws its flavors from Thailand's five regions. It's been a fixture of the city's live jazz scene for long enough that the sightlines to the stage feel deliberate. Stylish bartenders in leather aprons take it seriously, which helps, given that the room is already doing a lot of atmospheric heavy lifting on its own.

  3. A khao gaeng stall that's been around forever, opening before 7:30 a.m. so office workers can load up on curry rice before the day begins. The menu is tight: a few stir-fries, a handful of curries including the hard-to-find cassia leaf curry, and some chile dips. The flashier dishes turn heads, but regulars keep coming back for the salted pork and sweet pork, which says something about the place's priorities.

  4. A giant LED tree rises through the center of the main bar on the 46th floor of the T-One Building, which tells you most of what you need to know about Tichuca. It's a rooftop bar with 360-degree views over Bangkok, forest-themed decor that commits harder than it probably should, a second bar at an even higher vantage point, and a tequila list long enough to make the elevator ride down genuinely interesting.

  5. Rank 246. Yen Ta Fo JC

    Noodle Shop

  6. Rank 314. Tropic City

    Tropical Cocktail Bar

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
