  1. A banana leaf-wrapped branzino arrives at the table and you unwrap it yourself, releasing a cloud of curry-leaf steam. Indibar is a fine dining modern Indian restaurant, all desert neutrals and Art Deco curves, with the white-glove service of a high-end resort. The kitchen applies globe-spanning fine dining technique to tandoori and regional traditions. A James Beard Best New Restaurant semifinalist in 2026, and named by USA Today among its Restaurants of the Year.

  2. The broad patio sweeps out from a small turquoise-trimmed adobe inn with the Camelback range as a backdrop, which is doing a lot of work before the food even arrives. Lon's is a white-tablecloth Southwestern restaurant in Paradise Valley, seasonal and quietly inventive, with weekend brunch drawing the kind of crowd that lingers over customizable margaritas and monkey bread loaded with caramel and cream. The bar is serious, the mountain views are free.

  3. Rank 3. Fat Ox

    Italian

Servers in black tie bring little stools for your purse so it never touches the floor, which tells you exactly what kind of Italian restaurant Fat Ox is. The room is chic and the wine arrives in individual decanters. Handmade pastas are the reason to linger, including a 25-layer lasagna that earns its reputation quietly. Valet out front, Paradise Valley money inside, and the bread alone makes a case before the menu does.

  5. SumoMaya is a Scottsdale fusion restaurant that treats brunch as a team sport, with unlimited shared plates and desserts and one entree per person, so pork al pastor pad Thai shows up at the same table as a carne asada scramble. Pan dulce and mini churros kick things off, and the bottomless drinks come with a two-hour limit and no switching mid-session. It's AAA Three Diamonds, in case you needed permission to order a third round.

  9. Permanent jewelry, the concept where a jeweler welds a chain around your wrist so there's no clasp to lose or forget, is the move here. Mod + Co. is a Scottsdale studio specializing in 14k and 24k gold-fill pieces fused on-site, and the shop also carries rings, necklaces, and earrings for anyone who isn't ready to commit. Group bookings and bachelorette parties are welcome, which tells you something about the clientele and the general mood of the afternoon.

  10. The glass cases at this Gainey Village jewelry boutique hold Cartier and Rolex alongside less-obvious names like Panerai and Blancpain, plus pre-owned Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet for anyone who prefers their splurge slightly seasoned. The in-house design team also produces original pieces, from bridal sets to statement jewelry. A service department handles repairs or ships the watch off to someone who can. An old-school institution in Scottsdale that has been dressing wrists for a very long time.

  11. Birding has quietly shed its retirement-hobby reputation, and Wild Birds Unlimited is where the newly converted come to figure out what to do next. The staff will match you to the right seed and feeder for what's actually flying around Scottsdale, talk you through attracting peach-faced lovebirds to your yard, and flag any local avian health alerts worth knowing. A specialty shop that takes the hobby seriously without making you feel like a tourist in your own backyard.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
