  1. Rank 101. Providencia

    Cocktail Bar

A back-alley cocktail bar from Erik Bruner-Yang and Paola Velez, where the food refuses to stay in its lane. The menu riffs on Taiwan and El Salvador in the same breath, papusas share space with gochujang mayo, and the baked Alaska, a Washingtonian dish of the year, arrives under torched Dominican meringue hiding guava shaved ice and whatever surprises the kitchen buried underneath. Bon Appétit named it one of America's best new bars, and the room earns the fuss.

  2. The oldest vines here went into the ground in 1973, and the estate has been Demeter Biodynamic Certified ever since the current team took the reins. This Willamette Valley winery in the Eola-Amity Hills pours flights and hosts guided vineyard tours, monthly tasting menus, and cooking and gardening classes. Dogs are welcome, which says something about the general vibe. It landed at number 35 on the World's 50 Best Vineyards list.

  3. A lobby fireplace separates the mirrored bar from the seating area, and the whole ground floor reads like a museum annex, which is apt given that SFMOMA is next door and the Museum of the African Diaspora occupies part of the building. This Forbes Five Star hotel keeps rooms large by San Francisco standards, with neutral Yabu Pushelberg interiors and deep soaking tubs. Athletes, touring bands, and anyone else who needs a quiet car on call tend to wash up here.

  4. Polished wood, tattooed bartenders, and leather aprons as far as the eye can see. Bar Leather Apron is a serious cocktail bar tucked into Fort Street Mall, and it won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar in 2023, which is the kind of thing that makes sense once you sit down. The menu leans on local, seasonal ingredients, so the drinks read like a farmers market with a liquor license. Go slow; this isn't a round-of-shots situation.

  5. A grandfather clock by Maarten Baas sits in the lobby, its face replaced by a video of a man hand-painting the time, continuously. That sets the tone for this 86-room Midtown boutique hotel from London's Firmdale Hotels, where padded fabric wallpaper and original art fill rooms that look nothing like the rest of the neighborhood. A Forbes Four Star and three Michelin Keys for a property that treats Kit Kemp's textile instincts as a design brief.

  6. Insignia, the estate's flagship Bordeaux-style blend, is the reason most visitors make the turn onto Taplin Road. Joseph Phelps is a hillside Napa winery with panoramic vineyard views and several tasting formats, from a current-releases pour to a library session that pulls older vintages of Insignia alongside the newest ones. The World's 50 Best Vineyards ranks it at number 37, which tracks with the crowd, who tend to arrive having done their homework.

  7. I.M. Pei's only complete project in the Western hemisphere sits on 57th Street looking nothing like any other Four Seasons on earth, its limestone facade quarried from the same Burgundy source as the Louvre. This is a hotel that does not do understatement: standard rooms run 600 square feet, the lobby ceiling clears 33 feet, and the bathtubs fill in under a minute. Caramel Deco interiors, panoramic Midtown views, and a staff database that remembers your room-service habits from three years ago.

  8. Twin curved staircases and chandelier-lit rooms that read more like a private club greet you at this Forbes Five Star hotel in Buckhead. Macassar ebony beds, white marble bathrooms, and Juliette balconies are standard; the Empire Suite runs to 3,000 square feet with its own kitchen and gym. The resident restaurant displays original Picassos. Butler service handles the unpacking, because apparently that's a thing you can outsource.

  10. The 24-karat gold-plated faucets in every bathroom are either the most New York thing imaginable or the most New York thing imaginable. This grand luxury hotel sits at the southeast corner of Central Park in French Renaissance splendor, with Beaux-Arts interiors that have hosted everyone from the Beatles to Eloise. The Forbes Four Star Palm Court still serves afternoon tea, and the Champagne Bar exists, which says everything.

  11. The winery that taught Napa Valley it was allowed to take itself seriously, Robert Mondavi sits inside the To Kalon vineyard in Oakville, where cabernet sauvignon and fumé blanc have been the whole point for decades. Tastings, tours, and culinary pairings fill the recently renovated estate, and the place has been doing winery tourism longer than most. It lands at number 39 on the World's 50 Best Vineyards list.

  12. Georgetown's grand old luxury hotel, the Four Seasons holds a Forbes Five Star and draws the kind of guests who already know what thread count they prefer. The 222 rooms lean traditional in a city that considers tradition a professional requirement, so the aesthetic fits like a well-pressed suit. Bourbon Steak handles dinner, a proper fitness club handles the rest, and the staff handles everything with the unhurried confidence of people who've seen every VIP twice.

  13. The bronze double doors open onto something that feels more like a quietly loaded private club than a hotel lobby. Occupying the lower floors of the One57 skyscraper on Billionaires' Row, with Carnegie Hall across the street, this luxury hotel dresses its common areas as a "Study" and a "Living Room," which is either charming or a bit on the nose, depending on your mood. A Forbes Four Star property.

  14. Pink roses and ginger flower greet you at the door, a signature touch that signals how seriously The Langham takes the small stuff. This Forbes Four Star hotel sits on Fifth Avenue within easy reach of Midtown's big landmarks, drawing business travelers and visitors alike. "Service stylists" gather your preferences before you even arrive, handling show tickets, dinner reservations, and checkout times, so the city feels a little less like a logistics problem.

  15. A private corridor connects the hotel directly to the Prudential Center, which in a Boston February is less a perk and more a lifeline. The Mandarin Oriental is a luxury hotel in Back Bay, its lobby built around local granite, feng shui principles, and a long gas fireplace that earns its keep most of the year. It holds a Forbes Five Star and a Michelin Key, and the staff seem to know the difference between attentive and hovering.

  16. The sand here is 99% quartz carried down from the Appalachians, which means it stays cool underfoot in full Florida sun and squeaks when you walk on it. Siesta Beach lands at #28 on the World's 50 Best Beaches list, and it's easy to see why the crowds make the pilgrimage: the water is shallow and glassy, the shoreline wide, and there's no resort wall blocking the view.

  17. Twelve acres of canyon gardens in the middle of Los Angeles, with a swan lake at the entrance that no one can resist photographing. This is a hotel that runs on discretion, the opposite of see-and-be-seen, where the saltwater pool still has a genuine deep end and the rooms have outdoor fireplaces. The bar has been a quiet local haunt for years, and The Restaurant has drawn fresh attention since a French Laundry alum took the kitchen. It holds a spot on the World's 50 Best Hotels.

  18. Rank 118. Happy Accidents

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar with its own craft distiller's license, which means the team controls everything in the glass from the spirit up. Set in a wildly decorated corner spot in Nob Hill, Happy Accidents runs a sustainability-forward program with a menu spanning tightened-up highballs and martinis to stranger, more playful builds. Food leans New Mexican and Southern. A Spirited Awards Top 4 Finalist and a James Beard semifinalist for cocktail service in 2025.

  19. Ski-in/ski-out at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola, which means you clip in roughly where you check out. The Little Nell is a Forbes Five Star, Michelin Key resort hotel that Aspen's serious regulars treat as the only address in town. Champalimaud's renovation left it looking like a very confident idea of mountain luxury, with fireplaces, deep sofas, and suites whose vaulted ceilings frame the kind of views that make unpacking feel optional.

  20. Rank 120. Bandista

    Latin-Inspired Cocktail Bar

The keypad combination lives behind a bookcase at the Four Seasons, and the concierge will share it once you've booked one of the twenty seats. Bandista is a speakeasy cocktail bar whose drinks draw from Prohibition's smuggling routes and the tequileros who ran the Mexican border, which gives the menu a Latin angle that the 1920s decor alone wouldn't suggest. North America's 50 Best Bars placed it at number 47.

  21. Rank 121. Chandelier Bar

    Cajun & Creole Cocktail Bar

Chandelier Bar is the glamorous hotel lobby bar at the foot of Canal Street, all marble, crystal, and gold fittings, with a chandelier big enough to have lent its name and its crystal to the martini glass. Cognac shows up in the cocktails, including a fortified sazerac, and the bartenders are nicer than the surroundings strictly require. The potato chips arrive free, so dinner can technically be skipped.

  23. Wood-burning fireplaces in a Manhattan hotel room are rare enough to feel like a rumor, but many suites here have one. The Lowell is an intimate Upper East Side hotel decorated like an English country house that somehow pulled it off, with floral fabrics, chinoiserie, and individually furnished rooms that never match a chain template. It holds a Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star. The Pembroke Room does afternoon tea; the Post House does steakhouse duty downstairs.

  24. Rank 124. Middle Child Clubhouse

    Whimsical American

Princess Diana in Eagles gear hangs on the wall, a neon sign says "Never Grow Up," and somehow the kitchen is turning out steak au poivre and egg sandwiches that New York Times critics put on their Philadelphia shortlist. This all-day café runs from thick malted pancakes in the morning through hoagies built with fine-dining precision at lunch, into a full dinner menu at night. Whimsy is the decor; the cooking means it.

  25. A mirror-glass tower rising above SoHo's cast-iron rooflines, the Dominick earns its height with Hudson River views that most of the neighborhood can't touch. It's a full-service luxury hotel with Fendi Casa furnishings, a Rockwell Group interior, a rooftop pool lined in Italian blue mosaic, and a spa with separate hammams. The lobby's bronze, leather, and Venetian plaster set a tone that the rooms, with their soaking tubs and Turkish stone walls, are happy to maintain.

  26. A red mirrored hallway leads you down into this speakeasy-style cocktail lounge beneath a north Scottsdale restaurant, which is exactly the kind of entrance that makes people feel they've earned their drink. Inside, gold ceilings, red velvet drapes, and live music set a mood that commits fully to the bit. The cocktails lean sweet-and-savory strange, and small bites keep the evening going. Phoenix New Times named it Best Bar in 2025.

  27. Fancy Jell-O shots and distilled emu neck share a menu here, which should tell you something about the ambitions of this underground cocktail bar beneath the Riggs Hotel. Red plush, silver trophies, and low ceilings give it the feel of a gentleman's club that took a very interesting turn. The bar comes from Ryan Chetiyawardana, Mr. Lyan himself, and it landed on North America's 50 Best Bars list.

  28. Rank 129. Roquette

    French Cocktail Bar

Caviar on Bugles with crème fraîche is either the most knowing joke in Seattle or a perfectly sincere snack, and at Roquette it reads as both. This Belltown cocktail bar runs on a French-spirits obsession, armagnac and calvados and absinthe doing most of the heavy lifting while classic shapes get quietly rerouted through Normandy or Cognac. A James Beard Outstanding Bar semifinalist that landed on North America's 50 Best Bars list.

  29. Three pools kept at different temperatures sit between the hotel and the Atlantic, which tells you something about The Setai's approach. This Forbes Five Star resort on Collins Avenue leans into calm when everything around it leans into spectacle: soothing neutrals, a residential hush in the lobby, and suites spread across a 1930s Art Deco building and a newer tower. South Beach outside, spa retreat inside.

  34. The Art Deco facade on East 76th Street hasn't changed, but the inside was gutted and reimagined by Martin Brudnizki, which is why this Upper East Side hotel now reads more Corinthia than classic New York dowager. Casa Tua, the members' club with outposts in Miami and Aspen, runs the dining room, so the crowd skews accordingly. It holds a Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star.

  35. Rank 136. Highball

    Cocktail Bar

Cocktail menus organized light to full-bodied are a small kindness this bar extends before you've even ordered. Highball is a dimly lit cocktail bar on the second floor of a historic building in downtown Phoenix, doing the speakeasy thing with genuine commitment. Housemade ingredients show up throughout a lengthy menu where the flavor combinations tend toward the unexpected. A James Beard Outstanding Bar semifinalist, and a first-date spot that actually earns the designation.

  36. The original 1930s clubhouse, all Jazz Age plasterwork and old-glamour bones, still stands at the center of this Forbes Five Star, Michelin two-key Four Seasons in Surfside. Beachside cabanas, a lavish spa, and the kind of hush that suggests everyone around you is very deliberately not checking email. Thomas Keller's Surf Club Restaurant is on-site, which means dinner requires zero commute. More hideaway than scene, which is precisely the point.

  38. Rank 139. Fives

    Upscale Cajun & Creole

Absinthe fountains line the curved bar at this jewel-box cocktail bar steps from St. Louis Cathedral in the Lower Pontalba Building. Oysters and caviar share menu space with a martini that landed on Esquire's national list, and a vintage chandelier keeps the whole room at a glow. It opens at eleven in the morning and closes at ten, the upstairs neighbors having apparently drawn a firm line.

  39. Rank 140. Herbs & Rye

    Steakhouse

Herbs & Rye is an off-Strip cocktail bar dressed as a steakhouse, all brick walls and red velvet wallpaper, with bartenders in black tie who seem unaware the buffet era ended. The menu is sorted by period, so a pisco sour comes from the Golden Age and a martinez from the Gothic one. It keeps pouring until 3am, which helps, since dinner reservations book up weeks out.

  40. The New York Public Library sits directly across the street, which sets the tone nicely for a hotel that takes its Midtown address seriously. Rooms run loft-style with modernist touches, the bar downstairs shifts from local-sourced comfort food into a low-lit speakeasy after dark, and Grand Central is a two-block walk. A Forbes Four Star property on Fifth Avenue, it handles the neighborhood's ambitions without making you feel like you wandered into a showroom.

  41. A Forbes Five Star hotel on the waterfront where guests arrive by water taxi from Logan, bypassing the city entirely and stepping straight into a marble rotunda under an American flag. Rooms face the harbor or the skyline, and the staff have thought of things you forgot to pack. It sits at the edge of the Financial District, so the crowd trends toward people who expense things, but everyone gets the same treatment.

  42. Rank 143. Lee's

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar tucked above a Local Foods in Rice Village, Lee's has a retro speakeasy feel and a menu serious enough to back up the vibe. The drinks lean bitter, briny, and bracingly complex, and a separate mini-cocktail list exists for when you just want a taste. A James Beard semifinalist for Best New Bar and on Bon Appétit's best new bars list, it draws the kind of crowd that actually reads the menu before ordering.

  43. The stuffed woolly mammoth skeleton under the red tent in the lobby tells you immediately what kind of hotel this is: one where restraint was never on the mood board. Alan Faena's Miami Beach property holds a Forbes Five Star and two Michelin Keys, and earns both by committing fully to its own maximalist vision, Old Hollywood glamour reread through a fever dream. Collins Avenue regulars check in and never quite want to leave.

  44. Vaughan's is a Bywater dive where the Mardi Gras tinsel never comes down and Thursday nights mean a brass band that doesn't start until 10:30. The red beans and rice are free, which makes it easier to stay on the dance floor with whichever neighborhood regular grabs your hand first. The owners live nearby and have run the place for decades, so the community events and Pride tea dances feel more like hosting than programming.

  45. Rank 146. Vandell

    Cocktail Bar

  46. Rank 148. Katana Kitten

    Japanese Cocktail Bar

Highballs and boilermakers anchor the menu at this jovial Japanese cocktail bar tucked into a Greenwich Village basement, where the drinks list stays refreshingly short and Japanese spirits do most of the talking. It landed on North America's 50 Best Bars list, which feels about right for a room that punches well above its unpretentious footprint. Go for the sake selection if you're curious; stay for the cocktails once you are.

  48. Rank 150. Champagne Bar

    Cocktail Bar

  49. A Guy Dill bronze anchors a circular marble lobby that feels less like a hotel check-in and more like a museum atrium you can sleep in. This Four Seasons occupies the top floors of a 48-story FiDi tower, which means guest rooms start at the 37th floor and the Golden Gate sits framed in the distance on clear days. The Ferry Building is a short walk; hoodies, perhaps not the move here. The Michelin Guide awarded it 2 Keys.

  50. Hand-painted murals from the hotel's early days line the walls, even in the fitness center, now sharing space with Indian artwork brought over from Taj's Mumbai flagship. The Pierre is a grand, old-school luxury hotel on Fifth Avenue at Central Park, Georgian Revival bones dressed in a mix of eras. Bathrooms have separate tubs and showers, the Grand Ballroom seats 750 under silver and gold ceilings, and brides have been dreaming of it forever. Forbes Four Star.

  51. Multicolored lights, mismatched vintage stools, and enough rum cocktails to stock a small ship set the mood at this funky cocktail bar and dining den inside Krog Street Market. The food leans creative but unfussy, with global touches and most plates meant for sharing. It holds a spot on North America's 50 Best Bars and was a James Beard Outstanding Hospitality nominee, which tracks: the room has that rare quality of feeling genuinely cared for without trying to make you notice.

  52. Art deco modernism anchors this twelve-story luxury hotel at the corner of Santa Monica and Wilshire, where Pierre-Yves Rochon's interiors move from a crystal chandelier in the lobby down to geometric gold tile on the bathroom floor. Jean-Georges Vongerichten runs the rooftop restaurant, the La Prairie Spa is the only one in Los Angeles, and a house Rolls Royce will take you wherever you need to go. It holds a Forbes Five Star.

  53. The infinity pool on the 57th floor doesn't drain into the city below, though it looks like it might. This Four Seasons occupies the top twelve floors of Philadelphia's tallest tower, which means the views from your room stretch across the whole skyline. Norman Foster designed the building, and the hotel itself plays the warm-modernist card well, with light bouncing through mirrors and enormous arrangements of flowers softening all that glass. It holds a Michelin two-key designation and a Forbes Four Star rating.

  54. Rank 156. Identidad

    Caribbean Cocktail Bar

Brass sconces, emerald armchairs, and a terrazzo counter that looks like a terrazzo counter should look if terrazzo counters had ambition. Identidad is a cocktail bar built around Puerto Rican ingredients sourced from island producers, and the menu rotates often enough that regulars have no excuse to order the same thing twice. It took a 2025 James Beard Award for Best New Bar, which tells you more than the decor already does.

  55. Perched on Lady Bird Lake with the Congress Avenue Bridge just visible from the grounds, this Forbes Four Star hotel manages the rare trick of sitting in downtown Austin without feeling like it. A recent renovation refreshed the rooms and brought in a new restaurant and bar, both leaning into Texas-meets-Latin cooking. Visiting musicians and celebrities have long made it a preferred bolthole, which tells you something about the noise level in the lobby.

  56. A chandelier made from over 15,000 Czech crystals sets the tone in the lobby, and the hotel only escalates from there. This independent luxury hotel in Uptown Houston holds a Forbes Five Star and a Michelin Key, with rooms starting at 500 square feet, marble bathrooms stocked with Acqua di Parma, Frank Stella originals on the walls, and a spa, pool, two restaurants, a cocktail bar, and a patisserie on the grounds.

  57. Rank 159. Standby

    Cocktail Bar

Standby is a cocktail bar you reach by ducking down the Belt Alley and heaving open a pair of ponderous doors, which makes ordering a martini feel like a minor heist. The menu sorts drinks by mood, from "Purist" to "Certified Bangers," so nobody has to explain themselves to a bartender. Matty Matheson of The Bear built the food menu. It's dim, polished, and worth a Resy booking.

  58. Four private floors tucked inside the Fairmont Austin, the Gold Experience is essentially a hotel-within-a-hotel, with its own reception desk, its own lounge, and a quieter remove from the rest of the building's thousand-plus rooms. Guests still get access to the wood-fired Garrison and the other restaurants below. A Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star suggest the upgrade is not purely theoretical. Downtown Austin sits just outside.

  59. Marble bar, leather chairs, thick linens, and windows looking straight down Fifth Avenue: Ai Fiori is a formal Italian restaurant on the second floor of the Langham Hotel that telegraphs expense account before you've ordered drinks. The kitchen leans Italian with enough invention to keep it interesting, and the room is polished enough that nobody's rushing you. Gracious service throughout lunch and dinner.

  60. The adults-only serenity pool, where you float with a spicy hibiscus margarita while staring at Lanai, is the one that matters most. This Forbes Five Star resort on Maui's sunny Wailea coast is where the first season of White Lotus was filmed, so yes, you will recognize the lobby. Multiple pools, oceanview restaurants, and an outdoor gym that at least lets you feel the trade winds while you suffer. A Michelin Key holder.

  61. A 13-story Sol LeWitt mural dominates the atrium lobby, bouncing blue and purple across a cable-and-aluminum sculpture, which is quite the check-in distraction. This all-suite hotel in Battery Park City sits closer to Wall Street than to anything edgy, but the rooftop lounge on the 16th floor, with Hudson River and Statue of Liberty views, softens the corporate geometry considerably. Forbes Four Star.

  62. St. Mark's Square, the famous clock tower, canals with singing gondoliers: it's all here, in the desert, at full scale. The Venetian is a vast all-suite resort on the Strip where the bathrooms alone run nearly a third of the room's footprint, complete with Roman tubs and marble everything. Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, and Emeril Lagasse are all on the dining roster. Whether it reads as tribute or absurdist fever dream probably depends on your relationship with Venice.

  64. Rank 166. Clover Club

    Cocktail Bar

The long wooden bar came out of a Pennsylvania mining-town dance hall and has been anchoring this Smith Street cocktail bar ever since. Victorian paneling, a tin ceiling, and a curtained parlor with a fireplace in the back make the whole room feel like someone's very well-stocked study. The cocktails are precise and the eponymous Clover Club is on the menu, naturally. The kind of place that makes Brooklyn feel older than it is.

  65. A rippled-wave glass exterior by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill makes this luxury hotel one of the more convincing arguments for Midtown's new Manhattan West development. Inside, Gachot Studios kept things calm and contemporary, which helps when the neighborhood outside is doing its usual impression of controlled chaos. Zou Zou's handles Eastern Mediterranean, Bar Pendry handles cocktails by firelight, and the Forbes Four Star and two Michelin Keys handle the expectations.

  66. A hotel-within-a-hotel tucked behind The Phoenician, The Canyon Suites earns its Forbes Five Star as a quieter, more insular retreat from the main resort's bustle. Earth-toned rooms lean into the Sonoran setting, a private palm-fringed pool runs serene enough to hear pages turning, and the Canyon Lounge keeps a fire going for when the desert night reminds you it can actually get cold.

  67. A podcast guide to the hotel's own art collection, with Matisse and Klee on the walls, sets the tone for a stay here. The tower sits steps from SFMOMA, and the rooms lean cool blue and steel with brass accents that keep things from feeling corporate. MKT Restaurant does surf-and-turf with a wine list heavy on Sonoma and Napa. A Forbes Four Star property in a city where the weather never gives you a dramatic reason to stay inside.

  68. A hotel-within-a-hotel perched at the top of ARIA's glass tower, Sky Suites keeps its own entrance, its own concierge, and its own logic. Every suite starts above 1,050 square feet, with a separate bedroom, full living room, steam shower, and Jacuzzi, so the floor plan alone makes most Las Vegas rooms feel like closets. Forbes Five Star. The Strip is down there somewhere, if you ever feel like leaving.

  69. Marble bathrooms with their own TVs, because apparently missing a hand of blackjack while you soak is not an option here. This all-suite hotel inside Encore at Wynn Las Vegas holds a Forbes Five Star and comes with a private entrance, a dedicated lobby bar, and concierge service that keeps the larger resort at arm's length. Suites have massage tables built in, and the public spaces balance the elegance with red chandeliers and lime-green accents that feel genuinely Las Vegas.

  70. A private entrance off the south gate means Tower Suites guests never touch the casino floor on the way to check-in, which tells you everything about the tier. This Forbes Five Star hotel-within-a-hotel at Wynn Las Vegas keeps its own pool, its own restaurant, and a staff-to-guest ratio that borders on theatrical. Rooms run floor-to-ceiling glass and automatic everything, with soaking tubs large enough to raise questions about your water bill.

  72. The fitness brand that colonized every upscale neighborhood in Manhattan eventually had to sleep somewhere, and Hudson Yards is where it landed. This luxury hotel pairs ultra-modern rooms with a 60,000-square-foot gym, a rooftop pool over the Hudson, and a spa that runs from cryotherapy to specialized facials. The architecture is by SOM, the interiors by Rockwell Group, and the vibe is less "hotel with a gym" than "wellness resort that happens to have beds." Forbes Four Star.

  73. Polished marble, low lighting, and plush fabrics signal exactly the kind of cocktail bar that doesn't care about honky-tonk clichés. Four Walls sits inside The Joseph Nashville, but it operates on its own logic, one that skews global and sleek while the rest of the city leans into its cowboy boots. Esquire put it on their Best Bars in America list, and Food & Wine ranked it among the top hotel bars in the country.

  74. The Rocky Mountain views from this downtown luxury hotel are so insistent, staring back at the Rockies from nearly every room, that forgetting you're in Denver takes real effort. Earth tones and a modern-residential feel keep the aesthetic grounded rather than fussy. The Four Seasons holds a Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star, and the staff's habit of anticipating what you need before you ask is the thing guests tend to mention first.

  75. The newspaper-themed menu doubles as a history lesson on the Sunset Strip, which fits, given the leather booths and vintage vinyl setup of this dimly lit neighborhood cocktail bar. Signature drinks are named for local landmarks, the Viper Room, the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the like, and priced like someone actually wants you to have a second one. Named to Wildsam's 50 Most Essential Bars in America, it trades the Strip's usual gloss for something considerably more worn-in.

  76. The pyramidal glass skylight hovering over eight tiers of cast iron railings is the kind of thing you look up at and forget what you were doing. This Financial District boutique hotel, a Michelin Key holder, occupies an 1881 building whose atrium alone draws people who aren't even staying. Rooms have the soaring ceilings the Victorian bones promise, and the neighborhood keeps things quieter than Midtown without feeling remote.

  77. Pearl shells in the bathrooms are not the usual Financial District flex, but the Paspaleys, an Australian pearl-harvesting family, own this 180-room luxury boutique hotel and it shows throughout. The Beaux-Arts building has been around forever, once housing the original New York Stock Exchange, and it now holds Aboriginal art, vintage family photos, and a lobby lounge stocked with coffee-table books. It holds a Michelin Key.

  78. A spa on the 25th floor of the Crown Building, where the city noise that's been eating at you all week simply ceases to exist. The Aman New York Spa trades in total immersion: hammered metals, warm stone, and the kind of hushed calm that feels less designed than inevitable. One of Vogue's 100 Best Spas in the World, it draws the quietly wealthy crowd that considers a pool and steam ritual a reasonable Tuesday.

  79. A spa on the ninth floor of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, with the kind of views over the Na Pali coastline that make it hard to close your eyes during a treatment. Bamford, a Cotswolds-born wellness brand, landed on Vogue's 100 Best Spas in the World list, and the program leans into Kauai's outdoor culture rather than pretending you came here to stay inside. Useful when the hiking and beaching have finally caught up with you.

  80. Bardessono's spa built its reputation on a simple but unusual idea: the treatment comes to your room. Each suite has a massage table tucked discreetly away, and the lighting, temperature, and sound are all adjustable before the therapist arrives. Products are sourced from the property's certified-organic garden. Vogue named it among the 100 Best Spas in the World, and the unhurried post-treatment wind-down is treated with the same seriousness as the treatment itself.

  81. A château-style health spa and retreat less than an hour from San Diego, built with actual French structures shipped over stone by stone, including a centuries-old chapel. The 32 private villas and manicured grounds lean hard into the Provençal fantasy, while the programming runs from interval training to trapeze yoga. Notably, they feed you real bread and real coffee. Vogue named it one of the 100 Best Spas in the World, and Oprah's a regular.

  82. Set on 150 acres at the foot of the Santa Catalinas, Canyon Ranch is the wellness resort that most other wellness resorts quietly studied. The crowd here skews toward repeat visitors who come to actually disconnect rather than document it, which keeps the energy refreshingly free of performance. Vogue named it among the 100 Best Spas in the World. Five mountain ranges frame the sky, and the architecture is designed around all that contemplative staring into the middle distance.

  83. A spa that sits above the Dior boutique on 57th Street, which tells you everything about the aesthetic before you've booked a treatment. A handful of rooms, every surface predictably plush, and a vibe calibrated less toward transcendence than toward walking out looking like you have somewhere important to be. Vogue named it among the 100 best spas in the world, which the clientele already assumed.

  84. The Self-Centered Garden, a canopied outdoor oasis of draped cabanas, sets the tone for this full-service resort spa perched at the edge of the Atlantic in a blink-and-miss-it township between Palm Beach and Boca. Sauna, steam, jacuzzi with a waterfall shower, bottomless bubbles before and after your treatment, plus a terrace cafe for fresh-pressed juices when you're ready to pretend you're healthy. Vogue named it among its 100 Best Spas in the World.

  85. Hanging off a cliff above the Pacific, Esalen has been an incubator for seekers, skeptics, and the occasional celebrity since forever. It's a holistic retreat and workshop center, not a spa, though the cliffside hot baths alone justify the drive up Highway 1. You come for a weekend or week-long program, yoga to Gestalt therapy to breathwork, and leave either transformed or at least well-soaked.

  86. Twenty-five miles of private hiking trails wind through the property before you've even booked a massage, which tells you something about the scale of this all-inclusive wellness retreat outside San Diego. The Golden Door has been doing the spa week thing since before it was a thing, and it carries that history lightly: think summer camp for people whose summers cost considerably more. Vogue named it among the 100 Best Spas in the World.

  87. The Guerlain spa occupies the fifth floor of the newly reopened Waldorf Astoria, a quietly secluded floor above one of the more theatrically gorgeous hotel lobbies in the city. Treatments come with optional makeup touch-ups, a detail that makes more sense once you've seen the Art Deco grandeur waiting downstairs. Vogue named it among its 100 Best Spas in the World, and the hotel's pull is clearly part of the pitch.

  88. A 12,000-square-foot wellness circuit at Stanly Ranch in Napa, Halehouse Spa is designed for people who bring the same intensity to recovery that they bring to everything else. The setup runs in three parts: a movement studio, a recovery space using heat, cold, and steam, and the spa itself. Vogue named it among its 100 Best Spas in the World, which tracks given that the surrounding valley treats well-being less like a weekend treat and more like a performance metric.

  89. The spa at Grand Wailea takes its name from ancient Hawaiian stargazers, and the reference is not decorative. Kilolani's treatment menu shifts every ten days to follow the lunar cycle, folding in native botanicals and indigenous healing practices that change with the moon's path. Vogue named it among the 100 best spas in the world. At 50,000 square feet, it's a serious commitment, which suits Wailea's crowd perfectly.

  90. The spa at Kona Village looks away from the bay and toward the lava fields instead, which tells you something about its personality. Named Asaya under Rosewood's recent revival of the resort, it sits where black volcanic rock meets jungle softness, a contrast that's hard to manufacture and impossible to ignore. Vogue named it one of the 100 Best Spas in the World, and the setting does a lot of the convincing before anyone even lights a candle.

  91. A 20,000-square-foot wellness center at a rambling New England inn two hours from New York, Mayflower Spa sits on 58 wooded acres at the Berkshires' foothills and has landed on Vogue's 100 Best Spas in the World list. The spa mixes Eastern and Western treatments, so alongside the standard facials and bodywork you'll find reiki, acupuncture, and Tarot readings, which is either refreshing or alarming depending on how you feel about your future.

  92. The spa Oprah sold to daytime America is now available to East Coasters without flying to Arizona. The Life in Balance Spa at Miraval Berkshires goes well beyond hot stones and cucumber water, offering treatments so elaborate they're called rituals, including a guided stretch-massage where the therapist hangs from silk ceiling drapes and uses her feet on your shoulders. Vogue named it among the 100 Best Spas in the World, and the forested Lenox setting gives the whole thing a very convincing "I've done the work" atmosphere.

  93. The spa at Blackberry Mountain sits at 2,800 feet in the Great Smoky Mountains, which Vogue named one of the 100 best spas in the world, and the elevation does half the work before you even walk in. The 5,200-acre property is deliberately underdeveloped, so treatments unfold against a backdrop of rolling clouds and ridge lines. Come expecting a full mountain-resort spa, not a quick in-and-out.

  94. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame lodgepole pines and snow-capped peaks from inside the treatment rooms, which means the Montana wilderness does half the therapeutic work before anyone touches you. This standalone spa covers 17,000 square feet within One&Only Moonlight Basin's vast stretch of protected Rocky Mountain land, and the programming leans into that setting rather than pretending you're somewhere tropical. Vogue named it among the 100 best spas in the world.

  95. The bouncer-doorman at the entrance of a spa is either performance art or proof that downtown Flatiron runs by its own logic. Rescue Spa is a boutique day spa with a small retail edit, a following among beauty editors who treat their facials like a standing appointment, and a reputation for scented washcloths that provoke an almost suspicious consensus. Vogue named it among the 100 Best Spas in the World.

  96. The steam room runs so thick with vapor it reads as sensory deprivation, and the experiential shower has a tropical-storm setting that does exactly what you'd expect. This full-service spa at the Salamander resort in Virginia horse country covers the full range, from salon blowouts to soaking tubs to a private outdoor pool, with tepidarium chairs for the aftermath. Vogue named it one of the 100 Best Spas in the World, which the riding-boot crowd already knew.

  97. Larry Ellison's Palm Springs compound is the backdrop, but the spa at Sensei Porcupine Creek runs on a different philosophy than most desert retreats. The pitch is data-driven wellness, with guides who are actual behavior-change scientists rather than people in linen who hand you cucumber water. You can go deep on biometrics, or fill the day with treatments and pool time and call it research. Vogue named it among the 100 best spas in the world.

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
