  1. Rank 1. Bar Leone

    Cocktail Bar

Walk-ins only, no reservations, queues that can stretch an hour on a busy night: that's Bar Leone's terms, and half of Central seems happy to accept them. The cocktail bar holds the top spot on both Asia's 50 Best Bars and the World's 50 Best Bars lists, the first Asian bar to claim the global title. The drinks lean toward simple and timeless rather than theatrical, which somehow makes the whole thing harder to pull off.

  2. Rank 2. Argo

    Cocktail Bar

The cocktail menu here is built around local collaborators, a banana jam from LoCoFarms turning up in one drink, a pickled kale riff on the G&T in another. Argo is the cocktail bar inside the Four Seasons in Central, so the room is polished and the prices are committed. It lands on Asia's 50 Best Bars and The World's 50 Best Bars lists, which means the out-of-towners are easy to spot, though the bartenders treat everyone the same.

  3. Rank 3. Coa

    Agave Cocktail Bar

Bitter melon, green curry, and tequila sharing a glass is either a terrible idea or a stroke of genius, and Coa has built a following on exactly that tension. This agave cocktail bar in Central pulls from local Hong Kong ingredients to make mezcal and tequila feel native to the city, with long queues to prove it. It holds a spot on the World's 50 Best Bars list, and the room stays packed enough that the team has clearly figured out how to scale without cutting corners.

  4. Rank 4. Gokan

    Cocktail Bar

  5. The cocktail menu here reads more like a recipe card than a drinks list, which is either thrilling or alarming depending on your sweet tooth. This Soho cocktail bar built its reputation on umami-driven, resolutely non-sweet drinks, and it holds Asia's 50 Best Bars and a spot on the World's 50 Best Bars list to show for it. The crowd tends to be people who consider beef stock a reasonable base spirit.

  6. Rank 6. Quinary

    Cocktail Bar

The Earl Grey Caviar Martini arrives topped with tea "air" and spherified pearls that burst on contact, which sets the tone for the rest of the menu. Quinary is a cocktail bar on Hollywood Road that treats the glass as a lab experiment, building drinks around texture and sensation as much as flavor. It holds a spot on Asia's 50 Best Bars and a five-star Difford's Guide rating, both of which the place earns quietly by just doing the thing.

  7. Rank 7. Mius

    Cocktail Bar

Mid-century modern lines, light wood, and zero pretension set the tone at this cocktail bar on Gough Street, where Shelley Tai, formerly of Singapore's Nutmeg & Clove, has landed back in Hong Kong. The concise menu leans on classics with quiet twists, and the Kobe-style highball, frozen whiskey with chilled Japanese soda and no ice, does the talking. Asia's 50 Best Bars gave Tai the Altos Bartenders' Bartender Award in 2026.

  8. Rank 8. Penicillin

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar on Hollywood Road where the team centrifuges, ferments, and redistills its way through every bottle so almost nothing goes to waste. One signature drink plants a tree in Borneo with each order, which sounds like a gimmick until you taste it. Ranked on Asia's 50 Best Bars list, Penicillin has made sustainability its whole personality, and the drinks are strange and good enough that you forgive the earnestness.

  9. Rank 9. The Opposites

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar on Hollywood Road where the drinks menu is split into two camps, Balanced and Theatrical, with ABV listed beside each so you know what you're getting into before you commit. The Theatrical side is the obvious draw, with conical glasses and gas bubbles and a reimagined Irish coffee spiked with hojicha and amaro. The whole place runs on the theory that contrast makes things coherent, which the drinks mostly prove.

  10. Rank 10. Kinsman

    Cantonese Cocktail Bar

Red Hanzi script covers the walls alongside detailed frescoes and lily arrangements, and the whole room feels like a Cantonese parlour that somehow ended up in a concept. Kinsman is a cocktail bar on Peel Street that tells the story of global Chinatowns through its drinks, each pour mapped to a different city, Singapore, Kolkata, and beyond. The crowd tends toward the kind of people who actually read the menu before ordering.

  11. Rank 10. Mostly Harmless

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar in Sai Ying Pun where the drinks, alcoholic or not, are almost beside the point. Founded by Ezra Star, a celebrated Boston mixologist, Mostly Harmless once ran an entire stint as a zero-proof bar after a licensing snag, producing sous-vide-infused, fermented, house-vinegar cocktails so structured they made the detour look intentional. The alcohol is back now, but the ethos stuck: the team is more interested in the person across the bar than what's in their glass.

  12. Rank 10. Zuma

    Japanese Cocktail Bar

The pitcher plant on the bar arrived from Paris, was thoroughly sterilized, and now holds your cocktail. This bar inside the Landmark does the expected glamorous-hotel-lobby thing, but whoever is running the drinks program has a strange and specific imagination. Carnivorous flora aside, the menu leans tropical and polished, the kind of place where the ice is always right and the bill arrives without ceremony.

  13. Rank 13. Caprice Bar

    Cocktail Bar

Each cocktail on the current menu arrives in its own interactive display box, which is either charming or a lot, depending on your mood. This cocktail bar on the sixth floor of the Four Seasons sits beside one of Hong Kong's great French restaurants, and the bar holds its own. The nine-drink Elements menu builds from a saffron-infused opener to a duck fat-washed finale, with an oyster-leaf-and-champagne number somewhere in the middle.

  14. Rank 13. Dead Poets

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar that moonlights as a barbershop during the day, because why not. The current menu, called Liquid Gallery, builds drinks around painters and visual artists, so you might find shochu and ube nodding to Hokusai while a pine-and-moss concoction honors a Russian landscape artist most people couldn't name. The team also runs The Old Man nearby, and the three venues together have quietly claimed Aberdeen Street as their own.

  15. Rank 13. Socio

    Cocktail Bar

A cocktail bar on Staunton Street that fat-washes scotch with surplus comté rind and calls it a menu item, which tells you everything. The concept is built around upcycling waste from neighboring restaurants into actual drinks, and the SoHo regulars who fill the place seem fine with being the testing ground. Relaxed room, genuine craft behind the bar, and a rotating cast of local ingredients that most cocktail menus wouldn't dare touch.

  17. Rank 16. Tell Camellia

    Cocktail Bar

  18. Rank 16. The Old Man

    Cocktail Bar

  19. Rank 19. Montana

    Cuban Cocktail Bar

The moment you walk in, the whole room yells "Ritmo!" at you, which is either alarming or delightful depending on your mood. This cocktail bar on Hollywood Road is a collaboration between Lorenzo Antinori and Simone Caporale, and it draws its spirit from Cuba's Club de Cantineros, a bartenders' collective that codified the classics. The Daiquiri gets a careful reimagining, the snacks run from loaded crisps to Cubano sandwiches, and the vibe is communal and loud in the best possible way.

  22. Rank 22. Draft Land

    Cocktail Bar

Cocktails on tap, poured like craft beer, from a menu of pre-batched drinks that have been quietly winning over skeptics for years. This two-location cocktail bar, from a concept Antonio Lai brought over from Taiwan, lets you explore the menu with minimal commitment, which suits both the curious and the indecisive equally well. The flavor pairings lean local, with chrysanthemum, pu'er, and oolong showing up alongside the gin and vodka. Purists may grumble; regulars just order another round.

  23. Rank 23. Foxglove

    Cocktail Bar

A golden propeller turns slowly against blue velvet curtains while the art-deco ceiling panels make you feel like you've wandered into a first-class cabin sometime around 1935. This cocktail bar in Central takes a fictional globetrotter as its muse, running the drinks menu through different eras of cocktail history. The private room goes full Orient Express. Wear something that doesn't embarrass the room.

  24. Rank 23. Stockton

    Cocktail Bar

Finding Stockton requires ducking down a narrow alley off Wyndham Street, turning left before a blind door, and climbing a staircase that deposits you into a cocktail bar dressed as a 1890s London gentleman's club. Braces-clad bartenders, house rules, and a serious whiskey list give it the full post-Milk & Honey treatment, and the retro London theme lands differently here, given Hong Kong's own colonial past. Difford's Guide awards it five stars.

  25. Rank 23. The Diplomat

    Cocktail Bar

A narrow letterbox window and a gilded back bar glowing amber set the mood before you've ordered anything. This cocktail bar occupies a moody corner of a Central alley, doing the Edward Hopper thing while remaining fully aware it's doing the Edward Hopper thing. The drinks are the point, and the kitchen pulls its weight too. A 50 Best Discovery and a Pinnacle Guide Pin for good measure.

  26. Rank 26. The Woods

    Cocktail Bar

A polished concrete entrance off Hollywood Road drops you into a basement cocktail bar where sculptural bare trees hung with lights make the name feel earned rather than decorative. The drinks program leans into tweaked classics, a Beet Negroni here, a Galangal Mojito there, and the bar takes the whole thing seriously enough that the woodcut menus feel appropriate rather than precious.

  27. Rank 27. Avoca

    Cocktail Bar

Thirty-eight floors above Tsim Sha Tsui, a neighborhood with no shortage of pints and very few proper cocktail bars, Avoca makes a case for both altitude and effort. The cocktail bar inside the Mondrian Hong Kong builds its menu around Hong Kong childhood nostalgia, which sounds precious until you try an egg waffle rye whiskey and decide it doesn't matter. The crowd dresses up a little, and the view gives them a reason to.

  28. Rank 27. Bar De Luxe

    Ginza-style Cocktail Bar

The house move at Bar De Luxe is "bartender's choice": tell them sweet, bitter, or somewhere in between, and they build you something bespoke on the spot. This sleek cocktail bar on Pottinger Street runs on Ginza discipline, with staff who still train in Tokyo under the lineage of legendary bartender Hidetsugu Ueno. The menu skips heavy conceptual theatre in favor of clean, precisely made drinks, with occasional nods to Hong Kong film history for locals who'd rather not explain themselves.

    The awards

  29. Rank 27. Courtroom

    Cocktail Bar

The drinks menu at this SoHo cocktail bar is organized like a legal docket, which tells you everything about what kind of crowd thought this up. The team behind Penicillin and Tell Camellia opened Courtroom on the steep slope of Graham Street, and the technical ambition shows: house-made guava and mango wine, rose petal vinegar standing in for vermouth, fennel distillate turning up where you least expect it. Complex builds that somehow still taste like drinks, not experiments.

  30. Rank 27. Terrible Baby

    Cocktail Bar

The semi-rooftop perch on the fourth floor of Eaton HK makes this cocktail bar feel like a secret the rest of Kowloon hasn't fully found yet. The drinks lean into the city's hybrid identity, swapping tea for cold brew rum, finishing an old fashioned with a raspberry bonbon from a local chocolatier. It's the kind of bar where the menu has clearly been thought through by someone with something to prove, in the good way.

    The awards

  31. Rank 27. The Common Room

    Cocktail Bar

A 4am license and a long bar backed with cast iron and glass cabinets set the tone at this gastrobar-leaning cocktail bar tucked into Wo On Lane. Part of the Prive Group, it takes its drinks seriously without taking itself too seriously, which explains why the kitchen quietly retreats to a supporting role most nights. Black-clad regulars pack the place late, and the bartenders keep pace without missing a beat.

  32. The cocktail menu here is organized around a board game, which tells you this is a hotel bar that takes itself seriously but not solemnly. Sixteen drinks map landmarks across Hong Kong and New York, so ordering becomes a small tour. The St. Regis brand has always treated its bars as social institutions, and the Wan Chai outpost carries that through in the room and the service. Guests tend to be dressed for something.

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
