The best American food in Argentina, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide and The 50 have both weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Clos de Chacras comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Buenos Aires and Mendoza.

Rank 1. Clos de Chacras
American
A set-menu restaurant on the grounds of a winery in Chacras de Coria, about fifteen minutes from Mendoza, with a terrace overlooking a koi pond that makes you wonder why you ever eat indoors. The menu is casual and unfussy, empanadas with hand-chopped filling and smoked chimichurri, grilled ribeye, a pear mille-feuille to finish. Wine pairing comes with the experience, which at a winery restaurant feels less like an upsell and more like basic logic.

Rank 1. La Vid - Bodega Norton
Modern American
Lunch at a winery restaurant with the Andes sitting just behind the vines tends to put you in a good mood before the food arrives. This tasting-menu spot on the Norton wine estate leans into Mendoza's pantry, cured trout, river crab, goat's cheese, and marinated pork built into menus that pair each course with wines from the cellar below. A post-lunch visit to that cellar, reportedly the largest underground one in South America, is not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

American
Ring the bell at the unmarked door in Palermo Hollywood and you're in a former workshop that still feels like one, all exposed industrial bones and an open kitchen facing the dining room. Chef Dante Liporace runs this fine-dining spot with an eclectic hand, building on local Argentine product while pulling freely from European and Asian technique. A small cattle-country library nods to the old Liniers livestock market the name honors.
