The Top 100 Places to Eat Near Kafiex Roasters - Gastro Café

  1. The choriqueso at this counter-service taqueria in Vancouver, WA has a way of making the rest of the menu feel like a warmup act. Corn tortillas and griddled tortas get filled with battered fish, lengua, and chicken tinga, and the mezcal cocktails are sharper than you'd expect from a taco counter. The ordering process is its own small adventure, but the crowd figures it out eventually, and so will you.

  2. Khachapuri, grilled kebabs, and khinkali dumplings in a low-lit room in downtown Vancouver, WA, which is not a sentence you'd expect to type. Dediko is a small Georgian restaurant, the kind that makes you wish this cuisine showed up more often in the Northwest. The menu runs through dips and grilled meat plates beyond the obvious staples, and the wine list pulls from Georgia too. Save room for the honey cake.

  3. Rank 5. Lovely's Fifty Fifty

    Portland-Style Pizza

The naturally leavened crust at this cozy Mississippi Avenue pizza shop is made with Oregon-grown organic wheat, and the toppings lean seasonal and unexpected in ways that make you rethink what belongs on a pie. Chef Sarah Minnick, who got a full Netflix "Chef's Table: Pizza" episode to herself, decorates each one with edible flowers and whatever's at the market. Save room for the homemade ice cream, which regulars treat as the main event.

  4. Tucked into a 30-seat room inside Phuket Cafe, Langbaan runs themed multi-course Thai dinners built around a specific region or historical period, a different framework each seating. The menu says five courses; chef Earl Nissom sends out more than twelve. It took the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant in 2024. The sommelier is often on the floor to talk through the wine pairings, which, given the food, is a conversation worth having.

  5. Rank 10. Cafe Olli

    Craft Pizza

  6. Rank 14. kann

    Seasonal Caribbean

  7. Rank 20. Nodoguro

    Japanese

  8. Rank 27. Berlu

    Vietnamese Bakery

  9. The wine list runs from cult Champagnes to obscure Loire Valley producers, which tells you a lot about what you're walking into. Davenport is a cozy neighborhood restaurant on East Burnside where the cooking is technique-forward without being theatrical, rotating through whatever ingredients are at their peak. The room is sophisticated without making anyone feel underdressed, which in Portland is harder to pull off than it sounds.

  10. Rank 31. MÅURICE

    French-Scandinavian Bakery

  11. Tucked behind a parking lot, Han Oak is the kind of Korean restaurant where you might have to step over a toy truck to reach the courtyard. The chef runs it next door to his own house, which tells you everything about the register: clamorous, buzzing, and genuinely homestyle. The seasonal menu leans into braised short ribs and bold pantry flavors, and the cocktail list throws gochujang into a mezcal drink without apologizing for it.

  12. Rank 36. Nodoguro

    Japanese

Each dinner follows a literal script, with courses named Acts I through V and a menu built around a short story or novel that changes every six weeks. Nodoguro is an intimate Japanese omakase tucked into a downtown building, where the chef composes each plate in front of you at the bar. Ryan Roadhouse sources his rice from Hokkaido, and the whole thing moves with the quiet precision of someone who has thought very hard about the order of things.

  13. Rank 43. Xiao Ye

    Taiwanese Chinese

  14. Rank 45. Kachka

    Soviet Eastern European

The dining room is built to look like a Soviet dacha, complete with turquoise shutters and diagonal wood paneling modeled on the owner's great-grandparents' cottage. Kachka is a full-service Eastern European restaurant where the menu runs from happy-hour zakuski and herring salads to Siberian pelmeni and rabbit braised in a clay pot. Horseradish-infused vodka from the team's own distillery handles the rest. The New York Times named it among Portland's best.

  15. Rank 47. Portland Ca Phe

    Vietnamese Coffee

  16. Sommelier Brent Braun runs the cellar here, with a wine list heavy on Riesling, Oregon producers, and natural bottles, plus small-batch collaborations with local winemakers usually poured by the glass. The kitchen leans seasonal and vegetable-forward, the kind of room where the food earns its place alongside the wine rather than playing second fiddle. A James Beard Semifinalist for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program, this chic Hawthorne wine restaurant draws the crowd that actually reads the back label.

  17. Rank 51. Kalesa Coffee

    Filipino Coffee Shop

  18. Rank 53. Higgins

    Farm-to-table New American

Portland's original farm-to-table restaurant has been around forever, and after a near-death experience a couple of years ago, a social media S.O.S. brought the regulars flooding back. The dining room is a proper sit-down affair, seasonal and ingredient-driven, with a rustic bistro in back that runs a serious burger and one of the better beer lists downtown. A block from the Arlene Schnitzer, it's the obvious pre-concert answer.

  19. Rank 54. Dirty Lettuce

    Vegan Southern

  20. Rank 58. L'Orange

    Pacific Northwestern French

  21. Rank 60. Magna Kusina

    Modern Filipino

  22. Wood-fired oven anchoring an open kitchen, high ceilings, warm wood everywhere: Nostrana reads like the kind of Italian restaurant Portland genuinely needed someone to get right. Chef Cathy Whims built the menu around regional Italian cooking and Pacific Northwest ingredients, with pizza holding its own among the broader offerings. The naturally leavened dough and housemade mozzarella keep purists happy without making the rest of the menu feel like an afterthought.

  23. The wood-fired oven scents the whole room before you've found a seat, which is the idea. Ken's is a casual pizza spot on SE 28th where the dough ferments long and the crust lands somewhere between Neapolitan and what Portland thinks pizza should be, which turns out to be a persuasive argument. Ken Forkish runs the show, and the wine list is a step above what the no-reservations vibe might lead you to expect. It placed on 50 Top Pizza USA.

  24. Rank 74. Grana

    Neapolitan Pizza

The open oven sits at the center of the room like a piece of furniture someone actually thought about, which tells you a lot about Grana before the pizza arrives. This is a contemporary Neapolitan pizza restaurant on East Burnside, bright and carefully put together without feeling precious. The dough runs high-hydration and long-fermented, San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella alongside whatever's local. It landed at 26 on 50 Top Pizza USA.

  25. Rank 80. Hà VL

    Vietnamese Noodles

  26. Rank 83. Nimblefish

    Omakase Sushi

  27. You can't build your own pizza here, and that's the point. The menu lists eighteen pies, each already balanced by a chef who spent years making bread first, and you can feel it in the dough, a long-fermented thing with real acidity and char underneath. Fresh-sliced cheese, no customization, and they sell out, so booking ahead saves heartbreak. A small, no-frills pizza parlor on Hawthorne that tastes entirely like itself.

  28. The counter has one view worth having: the ovens, going all day. Scottie's is a New York-style slice shop on SE Division, small enough that one booth and a high table constitute the seating plan, with a couple of benches outside when Portland cooperates. The menu runs classics alongside a vodka slice and a reimagined Hawaiian, with a grandma square that earns its square footage. Counter staff will talk you through it without making it a whole thing.
