The best Vietnamese food in Seattle, according to the experts: James Beard Awards, Seattle Met, and The Infatuation have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Phở Bắc comes out on top.

More Less

The Boat and Ramie hold the next two places. Seattle Met shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with The Infatuation next.

  1. Rank 1. Phở Bắc

    Vietnamese

  2. Rank 2. The Boat

    Vietnamese

The boat-shaped building in Little Saigon runs the whole menu on a single dish: a garlic-crusted half chicken, fried crisp and lacquered in fish sauce, served with rice or a noodle soup sidecar and a chrysanthemum greens salad that quietly steals the table. The drinks list is broader than you'd expect, with Vietnamese iced coffee, pandan iced tea, and cocktails. Save room for the pandan waffles, or come just for those.

  3. Rank 3. Ramie

    Contemporary Vietnamese

The hollow bread comes with honey butter, and if that sounds simple for a Capitol Hill restaurant pulling Vietnamese flavors through a global filter, the rest of the menu will readjust your expectations fast. This is a contemporary dinner spot where risotto gets a Southeast Asian pesto and carpaccio arrives bright with nuoc cham. The chef is a James Beard semifinalist, and the cocktails have their own following.

  4. Rank 4. Aroom Coffee Fremont

    Vietnamese Coffee Shop

  5. Rank 4. Ba Bar

    Vietnamese

The pho broth here simmers for a full day on marrow bones, and you can taste the patience in it. Ba Bar is a Vietnamese restaurant and bar where the cocktail menu leans into tamarind and orgeat without taking itself too seriously, which matters when you're also ordering chicken wings. The New York Times named it one of Seattle's 25 best restaurants. The South Lake Union location keeps reasonable hours; the original Capitol Hill spot runs until midnight.

  6. Rank 4. Billiard Hoang

    Vietnamese

  7. Rank 4. PHIN

    Vietnamese

  8. Bún bò Huế arrives as tacos here, which tells you everything about the approach. This Vietnamese cafe in South Seattle pairs deep-cut dishes like stir-fried snails in coconut sauce with banana cookie crumble matcha lattes, and somehow neither feels out of place. The bánh xèo comes gasp-inducingly large on a woven basket ringed with herbs. Seattle Met named it one of Seattle's best new restaurants in 2025.

  9. Rank 9. Saigon Deli

    Vietnamese

  10. Rank 9. Thanh Son Tofu

    Vietnamese

A tofu production company that sprouted a deli counter, Thanh Son is the rare spot where the house-made soy milk and fresh tofu, sold by the pound, upstage everything else on offer. The banh mi are built to order on house-baked bread, and the glass case of che, Vietnamese sweet dessert, stacks up a rainbow of tapioca, jellies, and beans in combinations that take a minute to decode. Bring restraint, or at least a spoon.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
