The best Korean food in Atlanta, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide, The New York Times, and Eater have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Heirloom Market BBQ comes out on top.
More Less
Han Il Kwan and Stone Bowl House hold the next two places. Eater shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with the Michelin Guide next.

Rank 1. Heirloom Market BBQ
Southern Korean Barbecue
The counter shares a wall with a liquor store, which tells you everything about the vibe before you've even ordered. This Korean-Southern BBQ shop smokes brisket low and slow while reaching for gochujang, turning out pork braised in a sweet-spicy sauce that's become the calling card. The green tomato kimchi with jalapeños and radish is the kind of detour a traditionalist might distrust until they taste it. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the line moves fast.

Rank 2. Han Il Kwan
Korean
The pagoda roof on Buford Highway is not subtle, and neither is the dining room inside, a sprawling, bright space with tabletop grills built right into the tables. This is a traditional Korean BBQ spot where you come for marinated certified Angus beef cooked at your seat, but the kitchen also does haemul-pajeon and a kimchi jjigae that arrives still bubbling. Bring a crowd; the room is built for one.

Rank 2. Stone Bowl House
Korean
The sizzling doesn't stop when the bowl hits the table, and that's the point. Stone Bowl House is a busy Korean spot in a Buford Highway shopping center where nearly every table has the same thing in front of it: the namesake bibimbap, beef and egg over rice that's gone crispy against the hot stone. The menu sprawls well beyond that, but the room has already voted.

Rank 4. Minhwa Spirits
Korean Cocktail Bar
A soju distillery in Doraville that also makes its own makgeolli, a Korean rice wine brewed in-house, Minhwa Spirits is a cocktail bar where the spirits on the menu began a few feet away. Food pop-ups and a coffee counter share the space. The bar program draws on serious talent, and the cocktails lean toward floral and aromatic rather than punishing. Small, unpretentious, and a long way from Midtown's usual scene.
